Hi, My name is Faria Naeem, and I am writing to you today to share my views on the legalization of medical and recreational marijuana.
Recently in our 8th-grade health class, we had a debate in our class about the pros and cons of Marijuana. Each team provided enough evidence to back up their statement.
The pro team stated facts and details about why medical Marijuana is important to many people. Medical Marijuana can be prescribed to many patients to treat their medical problems. For example, it can treat Nausea from cancer chemotherapy, it can lessen seizures for people who have seizures disorders, it can treat asthma, and many more conditions that cannot be treated with other medicines. The con team who were trying to prove them wrong. For example, the stated that there are less dangerous medicines offering the same relief from pain and other medical symptoms. "Medical evidence has proven that marijuana is highly dangerous, in and of itself. It seriously harms the brain, the chromosomes, the reproductive organs, the hormones, the lungs, and the immune system. Adults who use medical marijuana has led more children and adolescents to use the drug. Marijuana can be described as a helpful drug for medical reasons. But pot is actually a really harmful drug, that can cause many diseases itself. Marijuana should be legal in all 50 states in America; it is legalized in 23 states. One important reason why it should be legalized because could tremendously impact the medical field. Marijuana is not harmful to your body, it is not as addictive as other drugs.
Alcohol and tobacco are more dangerous and isn’t good for your health and it is still legal! If alcohol and tobacco legal and marijuana illegal? Marijuana could be used as a potential treatment in to relieve side effects from other drugs, disease, lessen seizures, cancer, and mental illnesses. Medical Marijuana also helps kids. For example, a 10-year-old Zaki Jackson has suffered from a rare form of epilepsy that causes him to have 1000 seizures every day which him unable to talk or walk, and sometimes cause him to stop breathing. His family has tried to combat his syndrome with 17 different pharmaceutical medications, but none worked for him. After some time he recommended medical Marijuana, which lessened his seizures. There are numerous things that medical marijuana can do for people if it was legalized in all states in the United States.158.8 million people around the world use marijuana, that’s about 3.8 % of the world’s population. Legalizing Marijuana would also help our veterans who work hard to protect us.
Our American veterans use medical Marijuana to help them heal from the scars both mentally and physically they bring home after fighting for our rights.Marijuana is not always used for medical reasons and deadly diseases; it can be used for stress, anxiety and depression relief. The outlaw of Marijuana in states across the country has torn apart families, lost us millions and billions of dollars, and made it impossible for people such as people who work hard to protect our country to have much needed medical relief.
I think you should make medical and recreational marijuana because it can help people where who need it but it isn’t legalized. You should make strict rules so that people can’t get addicted to it. we can legalize it but only sell to 21 and up. We can also explain to people what this is used for, so they understand that it’s not only to make you feel good or the feeling of ‘high’ that you want.
Also, I think we should have less medical marijuana store it isn’t as available; it should be just enough so that people who really need can use it. I know that you are still figuring things out, but if you decide to make marijuana legal, can you try to make strict laws? This because our youth would want to try out marijuana and you know how peer pressure works. Marijuana is less harmful than drugs that are legalized already.
