In a film, sound and lighting plays an important role as it helps to portray the necessary mood and emotion (Jackman, 2010).For example, when filming for a horror scene, there will be a use of creepy background music and filming in dark or low level of lighting to showcase the scary and creepy atmosphere for the audience. Firstly, we will look into the sound. There are many different kind of sounds used in making a film (Holman & Holman, 2010). Sound can be in a form of narration, background music and sound effects that are used to match the corresponding action that is happening in the film (Holman & Holman, 2010). Throughout the whole storyline, there will be different music and sound effects used. The scenes in this film are split into three kinds.
First we have the scene with only actions and no dialogue, it is important that the audience can hear the sound effect or the sound of the actions that the lead is doing. At Scene 2, Vin is looking through his laptop on the advertisement. There will be the sound of him typing on the keyboard. There will also be sounds on Vin pulling his luggage which travelling to the landlord house, him knocking on the door and the landlord slamming on the door. Also in Scene 8, there will be a use of a shocking sound effect of the landlord getting shocked at who Vin really so as to further emphasis on the feelings on the landlord
The second kind of scene is those with actions and dialogue which there are only few scenes. Since these are the scenes that needed the lead to talk, it is important that the location is no noise polluted so that there will not be unnecessary sound inside the scene.
The last of scenes that we have is just words. These scenes are in the first and last scenes of the film. The background music for this is something soft and ambient sound. Then, we look into lighting. Different forms of lighting will present for different scenarios in a film (Jackman, 2010). It is important to have lighting in the video as if there is not lighting, all we see in a film will just be a black picture (Jackman, 2010). We will be using natural lighting to conduct our filming thus it will be shoot in the morning and afternoon where the light are the brightest. However we will have to take in consideration of certain issues that might affect the natural lighting like the weather conditions and the reflecting rays that will be captured by the camera when filming at specific angles. Since most of the scene will not showcase the lead’s face, it is important that we have the perfect lighting to showcase the actions of what he is doing.
