I am taking this privilege in my own hands of writing you which other farmers could be ashamed to take such authority. But I am beat and out and don’t know what to do. For about months, my children have suffered from crop failure and during March we don’t have money to survive. After the depression, the wheat economy had crashed. I had trouble paying for food, mortgages and we eat whatever food we have. I have to sell my livestock for low prices or having them kill because I couldn’t feed them. Also, I quit my fields because of the conditions weren’t fit for them to work. Then, after 5 years, now we had severe winters, and summers droughts and my crops were destroyed. There was an extreme wind that was hot and creates dust storms. I the closed the windows because the grasshopper caused Black out the sky and I and the rest of the farmers have use bran, sawdust and sodium arsenate to kill the grasshopper. My windows house was shattered and closer lines crushed as the winds whipped up to one hundred miles an hour. Hundreds of my acres of wheat were shredded. Granaries were barn down, barns wrecked and the one horse that my family relied on was killed. While I was away to look for job, my wife feed the children the dried apples that grasshopper had poison it but my wife don’t know. My twins’ kid died then in two minutes later my last child died. Now, I am all wet to my wife.

Kindly overlook the privilege I’m taking I think this is my last chance to get help because I always have heard other farmers talking about you so much and how you’re butter and egg man and what a good man you re. Please, kindly, send a saw buck to buy shelter, nourish and clothes for the new baby coming. I’m a hardworking man and please get me jobs to provide for her and the new baby coming.
