Main Themes of The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

In the book Anne Frank The Diary of A Young Girl there are multiple themes. One of the themes talks about hiding people to risk their lives and sharing most of their stuff. The author of the book was Anne Frank herself. This book falls into the category of an autobiography. An autobiography is a story written in the first person and told by the first person. This story is by a first person because it is a diary. Diaries are usually written in the first person.

The time period that she wrote the book was from 1942 to 1944. The majority of the story takes place hiding in the sealed-off upper rooms of Otto's company building. This is where Anne Frank did most of her writing. In the story when they are going to the 'Secret Annexe” it explains a lot on pages 18-19. It tells how in the story when they got there “Secret Annexe” it was too small and uncomfortable also a lot of work it says, “our living room and all the other rooms were chock-full of rubbish, indescribably so.” it also states this “ The little room was filled to the ceiling with bedclothes.” and states that, “The whole day long we unpacked boxes, filled cupboards, hammered and tidied until we were dead beat.”

In my opinion, the most important person in the book is her dad Otto Frank and all the others who help them and some others hide. Otto Frank and his family went and hid in a 'Secret Annex'. He was the one that provided shelter and his co-worker helped with a lot too. Her mom Edith Frank did a lot too. When her husband Otto Frank left she was the one that took care of everybody's needs. The helpers were a great help to their family too. They watched out for them got their food and clothes.

The most interesting character to me is Anne Frank. She went through a lot and survived it all. Anne Frank’s character traits are bravery, she is smart, and curious. She is a very special person and she had hidden for two whole years. It must have been hard for her. This is why I think Anne Frank is one of the most interesting characters.

One of my favorite themes was when On August 4, 1944, the Germans raided the Secret Annex and Anne and her family. Anne had been taken away and died. Her father, Otto Frank, went back to Amsterdam after the war ended. He was one of the last people to survive that had been hidden in the Secret Annex. When he found out that Anne had died in one of the concentration camps. Miep Gies risked her life to hide the Franks, and after she gave Anne’s diary here dad. Which she had hidden with her for him for almost a year.

One of the themes in the book Anne Frank's The Diary of A Young Girl talks about hiding people to risk their lives and sharing most of their stuff with others. This book is trying to tell you that life during the holocaust life was really hard and you have to risk lives even yours just to get by. The author wants people to walk away with people with a feeling of how it was during the Holocaust. But there are multiple themes to this book. One other theme is that you have to share your life and your belongings like your house or your room with others you may or may not know. These themes make a lot of sense too. In the “Secret Annex” there was very little room and lots of people which is why they would have to share there food and space. This is why they would have to hide people too. In the book, it says that it was a very small space and she had to be very quiet.

One conflict in this story is that Anne Frank and her family had to go into hiding and live in fear. In 1942 Anne Frank got a diary for her thirteenth birthday. She started writing in it and it was around the time that the holocaust started. Later their family went into hiding and they hid for two years. They lived in a “Secret Annex”. Anne documented what happened and expressed herself throughout the story. She died and a concentration camp with many of her family members.

The main conflict in this story is that Anne Frank and her family had to go into hiding and live in fear. Anne Frank also faced a lot of personal conflicts too. Anne could not defend herself from the nazies. The diary to Anne was her quiet place. It is where she felt free and could ease out a little bit.
