The world today is globalized. Dynamism and innovation are the buzz words for existing brands and are the key to success for new entrepreneurs and start-ups. The success of any company depends on its extensive market research, proactive approach and its adaptability of strategies to each country and its consumer culture.
I grew up in India – the land of diverse cultures from where I moved to New York to pursue my undergraduate studies - a degree in Psychology with a minor in Management. Through work experience, I have been exposed to the workings of two very diverse types of markets and have always loved learning about different cultures and people. Thus, a career in international marketing would allow me to gain knowledge by studying marketing traditions, behaviors, mannerisms and cultural differences of various countries. I see myself working in the field of business and understanding the challenges in the global marketplace
One company that really fascinated and kindled my interest in International marketing and studying consumer behavior is Uber. In India, Uber is extremely popular and successful due to its brilliant understanding of consumer needs and behavior. The company redesigned its business module by adding a “cash” feature as a form of payment system which is the most popular as well as preferred method of transaction in the country.
My short-term goal is to work within the marketing department of a small or medium-sized business where I would be able to make an impact and have the opportunity to influence all aspects of the marketing process right from the development to the sale of products and services in the domestic marketplace. I would like to contribute by defining specific marketing strategies that would prove to be successful both in the present and in the future thereby securing maximum profit for the company.
My long-term goal is to move from working within the domestic marketplace to the global marketplace. I would like to study and analyze pricing, sales, consumer demographics and purchasing habits, marketing and distribution of products and come up with strategies to ensure long-term customer relationships and success for my company in various parts of the world. I would like to focus on creating a sustainable business module, one that would help companies to meet their competition successfully in the global market. I am convinced that by studying the MBA at Baruch College, I will be able to meet my short and long term objectives and perfectly fit in the dynamic eco system that exists in the business world today.
