Henry Chang-Yu Lee is my hero. Lee has been doing great work for the forensic department since the year 1975. He is and always has been a hard-working man and that is what I love most about him. Dr. Henry C. Lee has his bachelors in forensic science and his doctor of philosophy in biochemistry. Not only did he work his way up to the top, but he also helps and encourages others to do the same and I just admired that so much.
Dr. Henry C. Lee worked hard to create the Institute of Forensic Science at the University of New Haven along with the assistance of a few other forensic scientists. Although things were developed in the early 1990s, the University of New Haven campus did not open until the fall of 1998. Dr. Henry C. Lee, the founder of the Institute, has been a constituent of the University division since the year 1975. His internationally famous name is held up as one of the world’s head forensic scientists. Dr. Henry C. Lee also has a reputation linked with the University of New Haven's history as one of the foremost academic forensic programs in the country for the past 35 years.
In spite of all accomplishments made by Dr. Henry C. Lee, the reason why most people, including me, know of him is because of his famous casework. Lee worked on the JonBenét Ramsey murder case, the American child beauty queen who was killed in her family's home in Boulder, Colorado. Dr. Henry C. Lee also worked on the Helle Crafts case. Helle Crafts was a Danish flight attendant that was murdered by her husband, an airline pilot named Richard Crafts.
The O. J. Simpson murder case was also worked on by Dr. Henry C. Lee. The criminal trial on two counts of murder of Nicole Brown Simpson, his ex-wife, and her friend, Ron Goldman. Along with all the other cases, Dr. Henry C. Lee worked on the post 9/11 investigation.
He also was asked to give his thoughts and help on the death of investigative journalist Joseph Danny Casolaro in 1991, a case that I found very interesting. Joseph Daniel Casolaro was an American that was working for different companies at different times. He was a writer who was quite oblivious to the public until he was brought to everyone's attention when he was found dead in a bathtub of the Sheraton Hotel room in Martinsburg, West Virginia. It was said that his wrists were slashed 10 to 12 times. It was ruled the death a suicide by the medical examiner.
