It’s considered to be fun for anyone to dislike what his or her friends like. It makes one constraint. On the other hand, it is deemed to be unpleasant for anyone to hate what the entire world like. It becomes challenging for anyone who finds himself or herself in such a situation. This movie, “Moonrise Kingdom,” directed by Wes Anderson takes place back in 1965 on one of the most beautiful islands. The film is much unusual such that a 12-year old pair is presented while falling in love at their first meeting. Sam is an orphan who sneaks away from the camp to go and meet with Suzy. Suzy puts typically on eyeliner together with knee-socks and the two ends up setting off a romantic engagement. Because their age is questionable, many of the adults compromise about this relationship.
One of the things that make this movie amazing is the fact that despite one of them is an orphan and the other is not, the two lovebirds are in the same life situation. Suzy’s parents were not faithful to one another, and this made them have no humane that could allow them to show the vital love for their situation. These similarities play an essential role in the development of this engagement. Due to the position that the two main actors of this movie are exposed to, they have nothing else rather than escaping to a lonely place where they can express their love to one another and be able to avoid the life difficulties that they are facing. Even though the two young people are in a difficult situation, they never show anyone how their life has been hard. Due to the intense love that they have expressed to one another, they are considered to be mature people but not children as they are in the real sense.
Wes Anderson has been able to use some styles in bringing out the situation of life that the pair is in. Anderson was able to use flash in setting up the tone of the movie and also to bring out critical themes in the film, with maturity being one of these themes. Through the use of flash, the pair was also able to move their love from paper to reality. Flash also enable the director to bring out the nature of life that the couple is living after escaping into a lonely place. The couple is seen cheerfully enjoying the presence of each other even though they are still young. With what youth is facing through in this movie, the director was able to sue dim lighting to show youth rebellion. The director is also selective in choosing his characters. Suzy and Sam are quite young, but they have been put in an adult position.
Despite their young age, they have been able also to form a romantic relationship. Suzy is presented while dressing on oversize underwear. This is an indication of how she has been forced into living a life of a mature person despite her age being young. By doing this, Wes has been able to express how young people admire the life of the grown people especially when their life is not that admirable. Cinematography has also been effectively used in this movie in bringing about the central message in the film. In any love movie, it is essential for the director to come up with a favorite cinematic scene. In this case, there is extensive use of center framing together with symmetry. The main stage in this movie is driven forward through the use of close-ups, whip-pans as well as long takes. This has helped in the process of pushing the story forward while at the same time building the tone of the movie. Close-ups are only used in those scenes that the direct aim at bringing about relevant information.
When it comes to finding some of the universal aspects of the movie, it is difficult for the director and the audience to develop a common thought due to the stylistic devices that have been used. Some of the common symbolic devices that have been used in this move are the dressing code of Suzy. At one point, she is dressed in underwear that should belong to a mature person. The symbolism that comes out of this is that Suzy has been forced to perform the duties of an adult person despite her young age. The island that they are in is also used as a symbolism for showing how romantic their love for one another is. The fact that the two lovers are young is an indication of the changing world where young people have the chance of getting. Majority of the audience is not able to notice all these symbolism. This symbolism has helped in the process of bringing out some important message that has enabled the movie to bring out its major themes. Some of the items that are coming out of this movie are maturity, love, and family. All these themes have been well deployed through the use of symbolism.
