American serial killer Ted Bundy was one of the most notorious (deadliest) criminals of the late 20th century, known to have killed at least 20 women in the 1970s.

Bundy confessed to 36 killings of young women across different states in the 1970s, but experts believe that the final tally may be closer to 100 or more. The exact number of women Bundy killed will never be known. He usually followed a horrific pattern: He often assaulted his victims before beating them to death. He was executed with an electric chair in 1989 in Florida.

British serial killer Harold Shipman, who was a medical doctor in England, killed over 200 of his patients before his arrest in 1998.

He attended Leeds School of Medicine and started his career as a physician in 1970. Between then and his arrest in 1998, he killed at least 215 and possibly as many as 260 of his patients, by injecting them with lethal doses of painkillers.

H. H. Holmes is known as one of America’ s first serial killers who lured his victims into his hotel, dubbed the ‘ Murder Castle, ‘ during the Chicago World’ s Fair in 1893. According to some reports, he killed up to 200 people inside his macabre hotel that was designed with trapdoors, gas chambers and a basement crematorium.

Pedro Lopez, born on October 8, 1948, is a Colombian serial killer and child killer, who was arrested for the murder of 110 girls, but who claimed to have assaulted and killed more than 300 girls across Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador.

John Wayne Gacy was an American serial killer known as the Killer Clown, who assaulted and murdered at least 33 young men and boys. Gacy regularly performed at children’ s hospitals and charity events as ‘ Pogo the Clown’ or ‘ Patches the Clown’ . Some people said he was a devil in disguise, because he always uses the clown face whenever he wants to kill his victims.

Jack The Ripper was an unknownunidentified serial killer active in the largely impoverished areas in and around the Whitechapel district of London in 1888. In both the criminal case files and contemporary journalistic accounts, the killer was called the Whitechapel Murderer and Leather Apron, because no one ever knew his real identity because he never left a clue. He was known for cutting out important internal organs from his victims.
