Gran turion was realised in 2008 in America but a year later officially realise in Norway. The film was produced by Clint Eastwood. The main characters in the movie were Clint Eastwood who played as (Walt Kowalski). The other characters who played a big role were Christopher Carley who was (father Janovinch), Bee Vang who played as (Thao), Ahney her who played as (Sue).
The movie is about Walt who is a war veteran from the Korean War and a polish American. Walt just lost his wife after 50 years of marriage. And most of the movie is happening in his Detroit neighbourhood that was populated by working-class Americans with family. But now his neighbourhood is the poor Asian immigrant, and gang violence is commonplace. Adding to that is the isolating towards his feelings towards his married sons and their families. After Walt’s loss in his wife, he has been a loner and he likes it that way. He just sits on his front porch, drinking beer and sneering at people and whit a growling body language. Walt seems incapable of interacting with a non-white person, without using the offensive racial word’s, but in the movie, most of it gets to laugh out in the first part of the film. Walt’s character represents a form with masculinity that relies on overt racism as a constitutive feature.
I think that the racism in the film is quite strong, and so many are racist and that makes it that nobody has any respect for each other. And the only way to get some respect between each other is when you have a gun. And the guns are what that makes the fights between the races. And in the movie, you can see that Walt is the person who is the most racist and how he speaks is how he thinks the best way to speak and get respect from the younger people or other people is to be racist. And in the film, we can see when Walt helps Thao to get a job he teaches him to talk like a man in Walt’s mind. Thao was trying to get a job so he can get money to go to school because he was not like the other Asian boys that just join gangs. Walt is showing him how to speak like a man and how to get respect. He is learning at the barber shop where Walt is getting his hair cut. That the racism in the film is treated in a way that the use it to catch the watcher’s attention and at the same time is most of the racism is laugh out.
How the film is made is that it looks at the Asian immigrants that live in gang life and in poverty. They do it like this, so you can truly see the different situations they live in. The film has a good balance between the drama and comedy, so the viewers are more entertained. This makes the viewers still see the importance picture of the world around them in that time, and that not all can live in peace. Walt was a person who wanted to do good things but sill at the same time he wanted to just live his own life and not bother with other people. An example where this has happened in the film is when Thao’s cousin is mad at him and Walt threatens him to shoot if he doesn’t leave him alone. In that scene he doesn’t want to get any thanks for his family a just want them to go off his lawn. But the sad thing with this film is that if he is trying to do something good it will often end with something bad like when Walt got shot on the end of the film.
The film is trying to tell us that it is important to look at this problems and issues. That is something that is not easy to get rid of, and that this is something that is important to make a change in so all can get peace to the surface. You can compeer this I the way Walt chooses to sacrifice his own lie to give peace to the other people in his neighbourhood.
