Canada is one of the peaceful countries in the world has recently passed a law on legalizing marijuana within its territories and this law will be applicable from October onwards. Marijuana is a plant scientifically named as Cannabis sativa and otherwise referred as weed, pot, and hemp etc. Its stronger form is called hashish. It is the most commonly abused substance worldwide. It is a psychoactive drug with some medicinal benefits such as to reduce nausea and vomiting during chemotherapy, to improve appetite in people with HIV AIDS and to treat chronic pain and muscle spasms. On the other hand, when used for long-term it can reduce the efficiency of human memory and can cause other breathing problems.
I feel, that my research on this debate on whether to legalize marijuana a progressive or declining move will be a valuable research. Ever since I heard this news of cannabis legalization and Canada all of the sudden going to become the land of recreational marijuana consumption, there are tons of question that emerges in my mind and challenge my ability to figure out its chances of how it is going to affect the community in a positive or negative way. All the facts and sources that I will go through will not only expand my knowledge but will help me to give me a clear perspective on this controversial issue. However, my arguments will stand against this decision implemented by the Canadian legislation. According to my perspective, making a drug available in an open market just to tackle with the unauthorized and black market will never be a successful outcome. Moreover, what indulges my interest in this research is the drastic outcomes that America has to face when they made the similar decision and same will be presented in the final research essay with substantial examples. There are a huge amount of political debates, material, group questions, and facts present online which I will be reading through and they will help me to build a strong and impressive research. Not only the online content, but the live examples in my own city and my neighborhood of different minors and adults eliciting indifferent behavior after consumption of cannabis encourages and drives me forward toward writing this significant essay. At last, I strongly believe that possession, as well as the distribution of marijuana, should be deemed illegal whether it is used for the medicinal purpose or not. Numerous researchers have proved that marijuana is indeed an addiction causing substance. Individuals become dependent on it and are more socially withdrawn, drop out of schools, obtain less education and don't achieve much professionally.
Current trends show that the addiction rate has risen among all age groups. More adults are becoming dependent on it. I believe legalizing it would only add insult to injury making the conditions even worse because then there will be increased availability and easy access to marijuana. Therefore, my ideas and views are clear about writing this critically emerging issue.
