Introduction: Throughout the years I have found myself creating imaginary places across the world that have had different effects on me. Some have put me in dark places while others have lifted my feelings. Background: I’ve also started to notice the power of dreams because they are YOUR thoughts, and when you are sleeping your thinking at a much more intense and focused level because you are closed from the real world with no distractions. Thesis statement: This essay will discuss one of those places and how it changed the way how I see the world.
Topic sentence: Once I closed my eyes end let my imagination run wild as I fell asleep, I found myself in the middle of a field covered with snow hearing the sounds of children and adults playing together. Evidence & citing: As you walked on the snow you could hear loud crunch noises being made after every step you took, along with people making maple taffy. After each breath, a small cloud of fog appeared in front of your eyes & kids huddling up to fight the cold weather together but loving it at the same time. The buildings were styled quite old looking and were very colorful, which made the area very calming. At night you could see the high mountains that stretch across the area, as well as the glistening stars that were forming the milky way.
Topic sentence: During my time there it felt like no one was burdened by poverty, sexism, racism, homophobia, and prejudice, everyone was just EQUAL. Commentary: It was a place where human and nature co-existed, a place where creativity and innovation thrived by people working together and there was freedom throughout my imaginary place. As time went by I quickly found myself questioning why life isn’t like this. Why isn’t everyone equal? Why is racism, homophobia, sexism and poverty issues we have to face with? Why do people not have the freedom to do things they desire? Why aren’t they affected by the number of zeros they have in his/her bank account and the common greed to be wealthy? I soon realized I was imagining a utopian society. As I slowly started to wake up, I was determined to continue trying to sleep because I KNEW that once I woke up from that dream, I wouldn’t be able to witness something like that in my lifetime.
Conclusion paragraph: Although my dream was tainted by the idea that the real world was nothing like that due to multiple factors, I will always go back to that place to escape from the real world. In this dream, I realized a lot about the human world that I have never paid attention and been aware of.
