For me, my personal hero is my mother. She is always keeping an eye out for me and has taught me the fundamentals of life. My mother has instilled in me how to properly interact with people. Yet, most importantly, she provided me with a life that anyone could ask for. For years and years, she has been patient, kind, and loving, all while teaching me how to be a man. She always does her best to set me up with the best possible opportunities to succeed, and I am eternally grateful.
My mother is the person who taught me how to say things like "thank you" and "you're welcome." She is my hero because, with her foundation, I am blessed to be able to live a very happy and fruitful life. From as young as I can remember, she was always persistent with what she was teaching me. Whether it was saying the alphabet or learning simple addition, she was always persistent. This persistence really made things stick.
Especially at a young age, my mother was consistent about what was right and wrong. When wrong decisions were made, there were consequences for my actions. As a child, I used to get spanked with leather belts. Every time I did something that wasn't right, I would get one spanking. And as a child, I remember getting a whole lot of spankings! I guess I wasn't too quick of a learner! Looking back, being taught that consequences come with certain actions really did help me stay out of trouble. It made me rethink and realize the world we live in.
Although my mother was my mother, she was also my mentor. Every day she taught me something new, but a lot of the time I learned by watching her interact with people. That's where I got a lot of my communication skills because, as a young child, I specifically remember being inside Walmart and seeing my mother interact with different people. I remember her using manners like "thank you" and "you're welcome," and she was trying to instill those manners in me. I don't think I really understood until I started seeing my mother use her manners out in public. My mother set a good example for me growing up and made it easy to follow in her steps. Her great communication skills also came along with that.
Through all of her actions since I was a baby, everything she has taught me has provided me with a solid foundation in life. She wants me to have nothing but the best and always does what's best for me. She is the reason I am who I am today. She is my hero for giving me everything I need in life to succeed. I would've been clueless without her. Her unwavering support has been a guiding light, allowing me to navigate life's challenges with confidence and resilience.
