Athletic training has been an interest of mine since my senior year of high school. During my senior year, I suddenly tore my ACL and I couldn’t finish the basketball season. I was devastated. My high school had a great athletic trainer who was there for me the whole injury up until surgery. Seeing exactly what they do first hand was interesting to me, so I did some research on their procedures.

Athletic trainers work with doctors to treat and avert ailments including incapacities, impairments and functional confinements. A portion of the duties of an athletic trainer include creating and executing recovery programs, perceiving and assessing wounds and providing first aid. Athletic trainers deal with patients of all ages and employers include educational facilities, doctors’ offices, the military, recreational sports centers and even professional sports teams. Most athletic trainers work full time, but the job frequently requires attendance at wearing occasions on nights and/or weekends. Athletic trainers also want to be organized to work in all kinds of climate conditions. While working in the athletic training field, trainers usually want to be compassionate and in a position to work with patients who may be in a lot of pain. They should also be detail-oriented and capable to make knowledgeable clinical selections quickly. Their job regularly requires a high degree of verbal exchange with doctors, parents, athletes, and coaches.

Becoming an athletic trainer requires a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. After gaining experience in athletic training, students should get licensure and certified. Most states require athletic trainers to be confirmed by the board of certification for the athletic trainer or authorized by the state. Certification prerequisites incorporate completion of a certified test. This test covers subjects, for example, clinical assessments and diagnosis, emergency care and treatment and recovery. State permitting prerequisites are regularly fulfilled by passing a similar certified exam. While it is not required, a graduate degree in athletic training can be useful for trainers who work at a higher level or those looking for professional success.
