I am currently a student at Chellaston Academy studying Maths, Physics and Computer Science. As a person, I am extremely motivated, self-disciplined and a dedicated learner; I can undertake any obstacle in a wide range of situations, which combines excellent communication and management skills. I can contribute to a team with a high degree of enthusiasm and analytical thought processes and with a breadth of additional diverse skills.During my week at Rolls-Royce, I had an opportunity to learn more about the future technologies. I was part of a team where we discussed about “Digital You”. Digital You was a concept about how we would like the technology to develop and how we want to implement it in our daily life. My role was to decide what to build within that week which would practically help us in our everyday life. My suggestion of making our own Google Assistant was accepted by all individuals in my team. After finalising our product, we had to work as a team to overcome challenges that we faced during that week. This was a wonderful opportunity for me to see how important it is to work as a team in a real life working situation.
More importantly, I also had a chance to go to the workstation where I was able to see different machines operating to make various parts of engines. Since I have always had a desire to study the art of machinery this was extremely fascinating and exciting for me to experience. Volunteer ExperienceI have been a member of the Gurkha Nepalese Community of Derby for last few years. Last year, I volunteered to organise and host a cultural program for the Gurkha Nepalese Community of Derby. Organising this program has helped me to mature as an individual and gain a tremendous amount of confidence. I was also part of the team that organised a program to raise money for those vulnerable people in Nepal who were affected by the earthquake which occurred on 25th April 2015. Volunteering in such a distressing situation has taught me the importance of working together as a community to help those in need. Skills: Hobbies and InterestOther than my academic success, I have also made outstanding achievements in extra-curricular. I enjoy participating in all types of sports, especially cricket. I have played cricket at county level with Derbyshire Cricket Board for the last 3 years.
Playing cricket has helped me to improve my communication skills and helps me to socialise with other people. I have also been someone to keep up with current affairs, especially regarding phones and other smart gadgets. Personal Statement I am an open and collaborative person who has always been someone to “try it”. My desire to gain new experiences and learn from others has led me to be the mature and self-driven person I am today. I believe that I’m a great independent worker who has learned to work even in stressful situations and who is always ready to learn from his own mistakes. Moreover, I enjoy working as a team with other individuals to solve problems and overcome any difficulties. During my years at secondary school, I have developed as a person. I am now much more tolerant, hardworking, mature, responsible and aware of my strengths and weakness. I decided to continue my studies by staying in the Sixth Form and doing A Levels. From a very young age, I have always been fascinated by the machines which can undertake an enormous number of tasks. Seeing machines everywhere around the world has always made me question “Why are they built the way they are?”.
My passion for finding out how and why machines work has led me to consider becoming an engineer; this was the reason for me to study Maths, Physics and Computer Science at A-Level. I have always enjoyed studying Maths, Physics and Computer Science, and I would like the opportunity to use this knowledge in real life. Engineering really attracts me because of the challenges involved in the application of scientific theory to practical real-world problems. I love the way engineers apply scientific knowledge to design and I am eager to learn those skills, so I can put them into practical use. After I finish my A-Levels, I’m looking forward to doing an apprenticeship furthering my knowledge on engineering and machinery. Different modules within the apprenticeship will help me to decide which path I want to take within engineering in the future. I am excited to face real life challenges, and keen to expand my skills and knowledge. I’m looking forward to gaining more experience and growing as a young engineer.
