Sureya, is originally from Turkey and mostly used there but in some of the research I’ve been doing says that the name Sureya is also from Australia. I was born in Russia that’s why I have a Russian last name because some of my ancestors are Russian and Feyzul which got carried to my dad but my whole family is Turkish. People think my background and where I got my name is weird but I think it’s pretty cool and interesting that I have both a Turkish and Russian name. I’ve never been ashamed of who I am and where I came from. Nothing will change that fact. I’m proud to be Sureya Feyzul.

My name, Sureya completes who I am. I am just a random girl that has been living in America for 14 plus years. I came from Russia, but I am originally Turkish. Many people already know I’m foreign by the way I look and the way my accent slips out at some points. I am more of an Americanized Sureya. My personality and looks fits into what a Sureya looks like. I can’t imagine myself being and looking different than right now. I suit and define myself from the way I speak and look. Sahra, did you know that name was my mom’s second choice? I do not see myself as a Sahra. Most Sahras are the exact opposite of me. Good thing they went with their first choice. Who knew Sureya was also an Austrialian name? I didn’t. Clara Moskowitz, the author of “Baby Names Reveal More About Parents Than Ever Before”, stated, “Statistics show the diversification of baby names began in 1960s, at the same time that Americans started placing more emphasis on individuality and less on collectivity and fitting in”. Isn’t it weird how we fit into our names and let our name just represent who we are? We are who we want to be and I want to be Sureya Feyzul and I wouldn’t change that for anything.
