My Perceptions Based on Indirect Observation and Readings

We all know that Mumbai is called the city of dreams. Many say that it is a city of heartless people. A number of people head to Mumbai with a dream in their eyes i.e. to become an actor. But very few of them could make it to the silver screen.

Film industry in Mumbai, which is commonly known as Bollywood, is a very competitive industry. According to me, Salman Khan is a type of person one should be in order to survive in the film industry.

He is kind at heart, helpful in nature, does charity, hard working, even with a huge fan following he is down to earth .one can learn a lot from him.

In order to support my perception, I am going to give reasons in points:

1. The good bad boy Salman Khan

He is undoubtedly the most popular Bollywood actor in today’s scenario. Despite having a huge fan base he is known to be humble and down to earth. As he is a celebrity, most of the time he was dragged into controversies. However he has taken all of that in stride and come out as a better person every time.

2. Not bound by religion

He was born to a Hindu mother and a Muslim father .His stepmother is a Christian .He respects all the religion and also celebrates and takes part in the festivals of different religions.

3. The unseen struggle

Many thinks that he was born with a silver spoon because he was born in a family with film background. The kind of fan following he has today doesn’t comes by taking the things for granted. He has a unique way of explaining the kind of struggle he has been through and hardwork undertakes for all of this film.

He once said ,“have you seen a duck gliding smooth in water ? does it ever look like it is paddling foriously underneath the surface ? I don’t have to show that I am working very hard.”

4. Controversies

Salman and controversies goes hand in hand .Many times in was trapped in the nets of controversies. At first, his break up with his long time girlfriend Aishwariya Rai. She said, Salman physically and verbally abused me. But Salman always denied that. He said that he sometimes behaved in a rude manner with her but never abused her in any way .He always respected her.

During the shooting of the movie called HUM SAATH SAATH HAI ,the police arrived on the set and arrested him because they have come to know that he killed a black buck. In his clearification he said that according to post martem report ,first blackbuck which was found dead, died due to over eating, second eaten by the dog and third one was probably shot by a gun. However the final verdict is still pending.

He has also a case pending regarding the hit and run case, in which the police department says that he was driving the car and was drunk but Salman denies that .He says that his driver was driving the car that very night of accident,which killed one person and four injured .Those people were sleeping on the footpath.

5. Being human foundation

It was founded by Salman Khan in2007 that provides healthcare and educational services for the underpreviliged in India.

On the education front ,the Being Human foundation partners with non-profit Akshara high school, NGO Aseem and the Maharashtra Prabodhan seva mandal to fund the schooling of around 500 children directly and over 4000 children indirectly. It has opened career development centres (in partnership with Coca-cola and NIIT) and educational resource centres in Zila parishads acroos Maharashtra. Under their ‘veer’ initiative more than 2700 differently – abled persons have been trained with skills thst helps them get jobs. Additionally ,all Being Human stores employ at least one differently-abled person.

On the health front, the Being Human foundation helped prepare a computerized national bone marrow registry,funded the cataract surgery for 1400 people, and conducted free eye camps and women’s health camps across india.

In collaboration with Fortis hospitals since 2013, the Being Human foundation has provided free treatment to over 1300 children with congenital heart defects. It has also provided free treatment to 130 children with severe facial deformities and has partnered with Mumbai’s municipal corporation to fund pulic tiolets in the city as a part of the ‘Swachh Bharat ‘ campaign.

The Being Human oundation supports the Max’s foundation’s initiatives into increasing access to cancer treatment, and has funded cleft and congenital facial surgeries of over 120 children from all major districts of Kashmir and Ladakh.

Apart from the sales of Being Human merchandise, the foundation also raises funds for its causes by organizing star –studded fashion shows , celebrity football and cricket matches and other events.

There are number of incidents of Salman’s kindness that been reported. Large chunk of his fees goes into the welfare ot the society . once he was heading to a shooting location , in the way he saw a father with his physically impaired son in his lap. He called that man and gave him a card and told him to go to a particular hospital ,his son will be provided with a wheelchair and all the expenses will be beared by his foundation.

6. Though many of his counterpart called him an arrogant person, but he never responded in a wrong way to them .He once quoted that,“ many people thinks that I am a jerk. but I don’t care what they think about me. I don’t need to prove anything to anyone.”
