In my opinion, one of the most important leaders around the world, and especially in America, is the world-wide known Nelson Mandela. Nelson Mandela was a South African Politician and Activist who fought against racism and injustice and who, after facing struggles including 27 years in prison, became the leader of the first government that put an end on the problems he was fighting for. One of the main reasons why I consider Mandela an exemplary leader is his background. Not most people know what he has been through before being a leader.
As a child, he had to deal with his father's death, someone that had been an important part of his life. However, all of that became the basis of his formation as a person, learning ethics and justice with his uncle. After that, he was about to be forced to marry, so he decided to abandon all his relatives and the members of his tribe, and that was something that allows him to know his best friend and his future wife.Another important reason that makes Mandela so important is his leadership ability. A lot of people who had known Mandela throughout their lives said that leadership was something they noticed on Mandela right after knowing him. Persuasiveness, self-confidence, courage, integrity, empathy, and ability to work were just some of their virtues. He impacted people and transmitted his message in a very clear and powerful way.
The final reason I can state to explain Mandela's important role on this earth is his ability to make his dreams come true. For years, he had tried to make South Africa a better place, joining movements against oppression and growing a lot through them. That led to joining groups that were against the government decisions, helping those who challenged the regime; eventually becoming the leader of the movement. That instigated the government to put him on jail twice, and after that he did not hesitate to continue his movement, finally achieving the leadership of the whole country, by becoming the First Black Head of State of South Africa. He clearly was, and still is, a great example of how people must fight for their dreams and beliefs. The path is not always easy, and there will be a lot of obstacles; but with effort and perseverance, you can achieve anything.
