The New Film About Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider has been a sensation since its first release in 1996 and still continues to rule the world with her bone chilling adventures and her death defying escapes. Her thrilling exploits have kept many of us glued to our screens for many years, be it her games or her movies. After 15 years since the release of the second movie, Tomb Raider returns to the big screens in 2018 to once again win our hearts.

This new release will see Alicia Vikander (The Man from U.N.C.L.E, Ex Machina) debut as Tomb Raider in her newest adventure where she suddenly finds herself shipwrecked on her way to a Mysterious tomb called the Mother of death after finding a message left to her by her late father before his untimely death. Croft finds herself trapped on the island her dead father disappeared on. From what we have seen in the latest trailer of the movie based on the 2013 video game with the same name, as well as its sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider, this movie promises the same emotional intensity and maybe even more. This new addition will once again pit Croft, wielding a bow and a pick-ax, against mysterious angry men, nerve wrecking falls from cliffs and humongous waterfalls that nearly drowns her. For those of you who have not seen the trailer yet or had failed to catch the important give aways that it provided, here's a breakdown.

A Lost Girl

The trailer starts off with a young Lara Croft, studying in college and working as a bike messenger, refusing to accept the sudden death of her father and a woman egging her to continue his work for him. Croft is finally able to move on after discovering her father's hidden study, where she finds and solves a mysterious puzzle. This sets her off on her father's footsteps at last.

Angry Men, Trinity & Survival

Father Mathias, portrayed by Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight), plays the role of the antagonist. The trailer introduces a secret organization know as the Trinity, and hints at its involvement in the death of Lara Craft's father. Not only does she have to stop this cult from causing a global crisis, she first has to survive a shipwreck and the wilderness of the island she land upon all the while dodging tons of bullets that a small army of crazy men are constantly shooting at her.

Death Defying

Like all the Tomb Raider franchise before it, this movie too has lots of death defying moments for nimble and trap-evading Lara Craft to work through. Not only does she ends up falling off a cliff with her hands tied, but after barely surviving the fall, she faces another turmoil when she ends up being swept by the powerful currents and goes down a waterfall, that is nothing but colossal from what we have seen in the trailer.

For all those waiting anxiously for this new release, the wait is almost over. On March 16th, 2018, we will once again be able to witness first hand Tomb Raider's breathtaking adventures and her defiance of death.
