As a college student majoring in nursing, my passion for healthcare is evident and my desire to pursue a career in nursing stems from my eagerness to make a positive impact in the lives of others. In this essay, I will outline my career goals in nursing and explain why I have chosen this profession.
First, my immediate career goal is to become a registered nurse (RN) and work in a hospital setting. I believe that the hospital environment will provide me with the necessary exposure to different illnesses and conditions, as well as the opportunity to work with different patients and healthcare professionals. I hope to gain experience in handling different healthcare scenarios, including emergencies, patient admissions and discharges, and working as a part of a team.
Second, I plan to continue my education through additional certifications and training, such as becoming a Certified Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM), or pursuing a Master's Degree in Nursing Leadership. These additional qualifications will give me the chance to specialize in a specific area of nursing, allowing me to apply my knowledge and skills to different patient populations. Moreover, obtaining these certifications and degrees will enable me to carry out tasks, such as giving anesthesia during surgeries or helping women deliver babies, which require advanced levels of knowledge and expertise.
One of my long-term career goals is to become a nursing professor, where I can teach and shape future generations of nurses. Additionally, I desire to be involved in research, where I can contribute to enhancing medical knowledge, discovering new treatments, or testing new medical technologies. I believe that being a nurse educator and researcher will allow me to promote the nursing profession and make a meaningful impact on the lives of people globally.
To achieve these goals, I have developed certain foundational and disciplinary skills:
In conclusion, my career goals in nursing involve starting my career as an RN in a hospital setting, pursuing additional certifications and degrees, teaching nursing courses, conducting research, and enhancing my foundational and disciplinary skills. With these goals, I am motivated and committed to serving patients and improving their quality of care while making meaningful contributions to the nursing profession.
