Pakistan’s Current Affairs

Every country has its own affairs which sometimes comes up on the air and spread all around the world. Pakistan is one the country that is always remained at top of the biggest controversy due to its political affairs, terrorism and foreign relations. I am making a report based on the latest trends and affairs of Pakistan like Panama Papers, Terrorism and Operation Radul-Fasad. I have tried my best to discuss all the aspects of these topics and emphasize them in appropriate way. Lets begins with the Panama Papers: Since the last few years, Pakistan has a biggest scandal of corruption and money laundering to abroad by its Ministers in the shape of Panama Papers. Apparently, Panama Papers containing the most sensitive data from 70s to till now. In Panama Papers, some the biggest names of N-league government has been raised due to filing case against the chairman of PML-N by Tehreek-e-Insaaf.

After the investigation which is carried out by NAB after taken the order from Supreme Court of Pakistan, decision came in favor of PTI. The supreme court of Pakistan took some months to announce its decision, finally disqualified the Prime Minister, and ordered to NAB to open references against his family under the supervision of the judge.

Unfortunately, this was not end there after taking the orders from Supreme Court of Pakistan Nab started to work on those references in which Prime minister and his family was accused for having off-shore companies in abroad and the beneficiary owners of London flats. For this case, Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered to make a team named as JIT that would be fully responsible of its actions take to investigate each and everything about Prime Minister Family and give monthly report to the Supreme Court. Prime Minister and his family has been faced a lots of bad days, they were called a day after day to appear in court for statements, they tried their best to defense their self but all the evidence and actions they took were gone against them.

Ex-Prime Minister and his family have totally repudiated of wrongdoing. In November, they confessed that all the property located in London bought with the money earned from invested in companies that are ruling by Qatari Families. The Prime Minister also said about leaks that, is a pre planed propagandas from those people who are hitting and aiming my family for their own political interest. On April 5 2016, he said those “who use ill-gotten wealth don’t keep assets in their own names.”

The Panama scandal appeared and came at the top at that time when PMLN government convalescing from the 2014 cordon of Islamabad by its strong opposition politician Imran Ahamad Niazi Khan who is the chairman of Pakistan’s second largest vote taking party Tehreek-e-Insaaf, which has been stuck the capital of Pakistan for 126 days. Later on, a rumor raised up that some essentials in the security formation are supporting the Dharna to forbidding Mr. Sharif due to taking domestic and foreign policy ingeniously.

After hitting the headlines with Panama leaks, the government of PMLN came under pressure from the chairman of Tahreek-Insaaf and from rest of the smaller parties that are demanding and asking his resignation and was threatening the government another lock down in Islamabad.

All the parties filed petitions against Prime Minister at the supreme Court to be disqualified. Court did reject and disallowed all the requests based on hearsay than legal evidence. But later on Supreme Court ordered to constitute a team that contain five member in October that could investigate and start hearings for this case.

The team members known as JIT selected from the other investigations agencies like civilian and military agencies was ordered to investigate the money trail, and find the records that obtain testimony from key players.

The JIT team in front of whom the Ex-prime Minister and his spouse have been ordered to showed up will submit the final report to the court in 60 day’s time.

“The time of two months is too short for the team to conduct an investigation that would take in Pakistan” said by Critics. They also have pointed out the two judges including the chief justice of Pakistan, recommended that the prime minister be disqualified.

The opposition leaders Mr Asif Ali Zardari and Imran Khan, gave their statements that prime minister should resign for a fair investigation, because if he remains in power there would be no sign for fair investigation.

All the allegations including corruption in which Mr. Sharif has been accusing since the 1980s and now what Panama Papers have revealed made the subject of federal inquiry.

When Mr Sharif came into power in 1997, he ordered to closed the inquiry and calling it “Politically motivated”. But that time has gone and his family used off-shore companies to acquire their foreign assets.

Meanwhile, the petitioners leading by Imran Khan, did not fared much better. So they might continue to be taunted by prime minister’s camp that they entrained politically motivated charges that they could not able to prove in court.

JIT completed its investigations and submitted the final report to the Supreme Court of Pakistan with in the given time. The Supreme Court of Pakistan finally decided to announce its decision with the sitting panel of five judges. The decision from the Supreme Court went brutally against the Ex-prime Minister of Pakistan and his family. The former Prime Minister has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for corruption and his daughter has been sentenced to seven years and fined £10m and ordered the seizure of the Avenfield properties.

All the Muslim League supporters and Sharif’s Brother Shahbaz Sharif, rejecting the decision, and told reporters that, it is a dark chapter in the history of Pakistan. NAB could not able to give solid evidence.
