"Pay It Forward" - The Example of How We Can Change The World

In the world in which we are living today I think that there is a lot to change. After watching the film I realize we do not live in a perfect world. In the present day we are just living with a smile on our faces, but inside we live with fear, discrimination, and hostility against the person next to us. Our world is an extraordinary place where people should live their lives in a different way, no more hate and selfishness. It could be a perfect place if people start to help and care about others. Today, and in the past, many people tried to change this situation, little by little, with some help, I think that we can make it possible.

In the movie Pay It Forward, a young boy from middle school receives an assignment in which he is trying to make the world a better place by helping other people. His idea is to do something good for someone and consequentially that person has to do something good for three people. The group Black-Eyed Peas wrote an extraordinary song “Where is The Love” that demonstrates some of the negative and bad in our world. The song clearly shows that nobody cares about other people, even if some people are dying. Violence, crime, discrimination, and hate is something we have to erase in our world in order to find love and peace.

The movie Pay It Forward is an interesting way to demonstrate how everyone can be a hero. A young boy from 7th grade received an assignment from his professor of social studies in which he needs to help the world be a better place. Trevor idealize the method of pay it forward that means that he can help three needed person and those people had to pay helping three other people. Trevor felt something special in this assignment and he took the project to hearth, differently from his classmates. The boy, not really knowing what he was going to help other people, started his heroic journey. Trevor’s goal was to demonstrate to her mother that his drunk father is not the only person that could love her, outside there are amazing man with a brilliant future who are able to love her and take care of her in a better way. He tries to make his mother and his teacher dating. At the beginning the young boy never thought that this method would be successful, but later on it turned out to be something special for everyone, something big that have had a national impact. A man went to the hospital because he gets shot, and he spent his time for a person that he did not even know. This person was the man that was paying forward Trevor’s grandmother. This brilliant method helped Jerry to save himself by saving the life of a woman who was committing suicide from a bridge. Trevor was very heartened to help people be less selfish and to care for others.

Later on, Trevor, decides to help a young boy from his school, Adam, that was bullied every day from other schoolmates. His face shows us determination on helping Adam. He made a physical journey with the bike to get over the bullies that was making Adam life impossible. Trevor’s grandmother save herself; she was an alcoholic that live her life in her car, her only goal was to see her grandson, but the Trevor’s mother prohibited her because of drinking. The only way in which she could see him was being sober, so she decided to stop drinking and take a chance to see him. Not being able to drink save herself from alcoholism and start to create a new connection with Trevor. According to Campbell’s hero, Trevor’s mother is a clear example of hero because she has been able to help the teacher by giving him confidence and showing him that he is a special man.

In the movie Pay It Forward when the homeless Jerry encounter in front with a woman that was trying to commit suicide, he tries to stop her form doing a big mistake. He had a option, walk away and do not care about her because he did not know anything about her, she was an estranger. Alternatively, he decided to help her even if she wanted him to go away, he stayed traying to save her life. As human beings we all are the same and we do have the rights to treat another person differently.

In the movie, the character, can reflect us. Trevor taking care of his mother when she decides to drink and get drunk, he has to sacrifice his time as a young boy to care for the mother. Every day we are able to see many cases like this where the mother or the father have some problems and the only way in which they can escape is drinking alcohol, so kids need to help them. Actually, we prefer to hide our self behind the screen instead of helping other people that need help. Our world can be changed, but the only human being that can do it is us. We have the potential to change it so it can become a better place where everyone is safe. If no one take this big step out of their comfort zone, we will never see our world that we need, with love and peace.
