Personal Experience of Being a Successful College Student

I am currently studying three A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Sociology in the college. Out of my three courses, I have a particular interest in Chemistry and so I have always been fascinated by the methods chemists use to create varieties of medicines to treat patient’s physical and mental welfare. The decision to undertake a degree in healthcare became an interest when a family member of mine had been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and so I had started to consider a career in this field.

I have pursued many activities that have given me an advantage in this particular field of study, one being where I had the opportunity of shadowing a key member of staff in my local pharmacy. This experience had taught me the key skill of being patient with customers while being able to gain knowledge of health and safety standards within the industry. The most beneficial outcome was being able to understand the working environment and how intense it can be during busy hours, therefore requiring the skills of hardworking and dedication. Overall, it has attracted me more into pursuing this career as I found it to be a very interesting and engaging experience.

I have also accomplished The Duke of Edinburgh’s award which I had been committed to for just over a year and thoroughly enjoyed. This journey has aided me in gaining a sense of responsibility and independence within an encouraging and motivating environment. As challenging as it may have been, I personally feel it was worth undergoing the experience.

Being head girl at my previous school opened up many opportunities, one of which being the chance to deliver several speeches targeted towards both small and large audiences. This role had particularly taught me how to communicate with people from people of all age groups and so I am sure this is a vital skill needed for a pharmacist.

Since I am a college student, it can be quite difficult handling three hardcore subjects and so I attend gym at least four times a week to relieve any stress, while I also improve my physical and mental health. It also helps keep me motivated as I like to attend gym before college and so I am able to start my day early, therefore having lots of time to balance my college life and social life. I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my friends and visiting new restaurants to explore different cuisines.
