Personal Reflections on The Development of Certain Study Skills

I have joined the foundation business degree course and I've been researching how I like to learn. At the beginning of a foundation degree, it has been suggested that an analysis is undertaken of how I learn. I am writing this report for you to see how I've learned by putting in place useful ideas that could improve my progress on the foundation degree course. I am writing about what I found out about myself over the last few weeks and thinking how is this going to help me get my first class pass.

Effective academic and professional skills development makes sure that the student becomes successful in a college towards achieving its goals. Effective academic and professional skills have a different meaning. They involve skills, qualifications and knowledge and understanding for career development. Developing skills begin with knowing which skills you need to find the right job and career growth. You desire to define your skills and recognise the skills you require improving to win your goals. The key to improving your skills is through education. Developing academic and professional skills will determine how students work, relate and coordinate with other students . Academic and professional skills of students are necessary aspects and vital in the course and innovation world. Students should have excellent communication skills in college, as this will create a great relationship with the college and students.

'At this stage the market has developed either due to the introduction of new technology or new processes and you have to update your skills or risk your skill set becoming outdated'.  Personal development actions are behaviours a student develops to proceed in a single area of their way of life. The author Brian Tracy says 'Personal Development is the process of improving oneself through conscious habits and activities.' It can be said that knowledge resembles glue that sticks information along with learning. We anticipate knowledge concerning a subject to understand it better. It plays an important function in students' life specifically in college. If they don't have actually connected knowledge, they experience issues in recognising the message.

The knowledge and understanding I have actually learned will aid me in my academics as I will certainly go through academic concerns and also resolve any troubles I have efficiently. Good reading and writing are what would prefer my difficulties. I will additionally aid my colleagues in position that they encounter problems. Learning from teachers to use knowledge is the right choice. Research accomplished regarding our learning styles and understanding has raised students understanding of how skill forms understanding.

'The more we use our senses of sight, hearing and touch, ..., the more opportunities we give the brain to take in information using our preferred sense'.  Our world​ faces uphill struggles that call for the coming generation to be capable leaders with full acceptance of the people. I will certainly utilise my visual learning skill to see as well as observe points in society in its entirety.

According to the website Cortland, 'Learning styles can be defined, classified, and identified in many different way. Generally, they are overall patterns that provide direction to learning and teaching.' The book Essential Study Skills lists all the visual ways in detail which includes brainstorming, drawing, pictionary, pictures, collage, images. 'Remember — the idea is not to be a brilliant technical artist — it is to liberate your drawing self so that you become happy with whatever sort of drawing you are capable of.'

​Visual learning skills can help an academic student to learn and understand different concepts in different subjects because they can hear and see everything very clearly so they will easily understand.​ One thing I observed that works for me is drawing. I like drawing even though I am not good at it, I still get my way around by creating mental pictures of reading assignments. According to Kolb I fit in the diverging learning style which is active experimentation and concrete experience as I am able to be characterised by ability of imagining possibilities by observing and reflecting on experiences.

Recommendations

I need to add assimilating learning skills which is in the reflective observation and abstract conceptualisation relating to Kolb. I need to gain involvement in watching and thinking. The smart target I would give myself for the course is that I need to wake up by 5 o' clock in the morning to study and reflect on coursework. I will do this by making sure that I take notes in my notebook including various diagrams and drawings.
