Due to Political Corruption government revenue is lost which limits the ability of the government to invest in areas that need development. It isn’t just about election rigging. It can lead politicians in office make their decisions that benefit those who fund them making public interest a less of a priority. Political corruption can divert limited resources from poor and disadvantaged people. This is especially common in countries where democratic institutions are weak or absent. Also corruption and bribery lead to other forms of crime. Due to increasing crimes the police would be overwhelmed and the chances of lowering crime rates would increase which encourages more people to be corrupt. which in turn leads lead to the creation of mafias and organized criminal groups who use their financial power to take over legal businesses. further undermining economic growth. In countries, where there is corruption, the police and other justice departments themselves become criminalized.
How has it affected the world so far...Petrobras scandal in brazil, where politicians have been reported to have taken Bribery in exchange for awarding public contracts. The economy fell, tens of thousands of ordinary Brazilians have lost their jobs. They didn’t make the decisions that led to the scandal. But they’re the ones living with the consequences.
In Afghanistan, millions of dollars that should have gone on reconstruction have been reportedly wasted or stolen, In Angola, 1 in 6 children die before the age of 5 making it the deadliest place for children. 70 percent of the population there live on US$2 a day or less. And this is all because of political corruption Fix We need to call on our politicians and public officials to be accountable for their actions. We must demand for regulations to be in place which will force them to act openly. When leaders act transparently, showing us clearly what they do, we can make better choices when we vote. And we can hold them accountable once elected. If a country’s resources are abused, there must be punishments. And if regulations to prevent corruption aren’t in place, we must demand for them. If companies publish their donations, they can show their contributions aren’t intended given as bribes.
Empowering our community and society at all levels(local, national and global) to have an entirely negative view towards political corruption. Pay enough wages for the authorities in order to give them a state of mind not to corrupt. Paying wages accordingly to the living conditions of the nation limits greed and also does not encourage politicians to solicit money illegally. Community should have educated votes for which politician should be elected. In a democracy, ultimately the choice is in the hands of the people themselves so if they expose and vote a politician out by voting.
