Tunisia is a beautiful country with easy lifestyles, where one can find a lot of foreigners with a lot of natural resources. The people of Tunisia might be poor, but they welcome the people from foreign country with the full heart. The country has some positive sides but still Tunisia is facing a lot of problems. The country has so many problems that one can talk about their problems for hours and hours since 2011. In the country Tunisia, one can see Political problems, Social problems and also Economic problems. They have poverty problems, gender gap and many more problems.
Tunisian government should have a perfect financial plan, as they have poverty problems. The government of Tunisia is just helping the rich people to make them richer, but they are not helping the poor people to solve the poverty problem. According to Sarah Yerkes (2017), they have corruption problems because of some political parties, who is creating those issues. Tunisian people and also the government of Tunisia should fight against the corruption which is going on in the country. Moreover, the country is facing a serious problem of gender inequality. Tunisia’s GDP is going very low compared to the past which is a great threat for the economy of the country (Paciello, 2011).
Again, when Tunisia came to a better place in democracy, still it involved in economic and social problems. This Economic and Social issues they are having due to some political issues, as the political parties are not strong enough and they failed to handle the situation (Ghanmi, 2018). Tunisia is the poor country economically, they don’t have good job opportunities with lower GDP. They have a big unemployment and poverty problem. Unemployment and poverty problems are not a problem itself. But the high price of foods and clothing makes the situation worst. No job, high tax with high prices for food are making situation worse. Due to unemployment problem many people leave Tunisia and choose to go to foreign country and their families depend on the income of the person who is living in abroad (Paciello, 2011). The budget which was published in Tunisia it is so high that people can’t even afford foods for their children. They have a high budget of tax which they need to reduce.
Public spoke against high price wearing T shirts with slogan “Manich Msamah”, which means I’ll not forgive. Police fired tear gas on those protesters (Blaise, 2018). Some of the middle class family earn their livelihood by selling things near roadside but police have problems with them every day. Fruit vendors was the sufferer by the police even if they visit government offices for their rights they didn’t get enough help (Fahim, 2011). Because those fruit vendors had no license and they were selling fruits on the roadside without any license (So, it can be said that the country government couldn’t ensure human rights, they couldn’t support poor people. The police force of Tunisia need to train themselves about these situations and USIP is one of the institutions which is giving training to the police force of Tunisia. They need to ensure more security in the border because of smuggling (The Current Situation in Tunisia A USIP Fact Sheet, 2017).
Since 2011, Tunisian people didn’t wanted to put an end to the presidency of Ben Ali, they wanted a free and fair elections, they wanted a perfect democracy, where they can have freedom they have the right to say, right to vote. They wanted a country with low poverty and high job facilities. Question is that Ben Ali has been removed but are Tunisian happy with their current situation? And the answer for this question is No! They aren’t happy with their current situation. Prime Minister Youssef Chahed of Tunisia believe that this year is the last year for the sufferings of the Tunisia. He claimed that he can improve the situation of Tunisia within this year (Blaise, 2018). Because, it’s true that Ben Ali failed with his commitment about democracy, but after Ben Ali no one could do the situation better. In fact Tunisian people thinks that the situation was way more better than the present situation.
Moreover, Tunisia is the beautiful country to visit and travel. The country was one of the safest country for tourism. People visited the country and travel and the country earned a lot of money from the foreigners when they visited the country. When jihadists attacked the country Tunisia people scared to visit the country. ISIs attacked the country for two times and more than 60 people died who were foreigners. It’s true that Tunisia fought against jihadists and won against those jihadists. Still, it became a issue for the economy of the country, because a big part of the economy depend on the economy they earn from tourism, remittances and EU exports (World Bank, 2010). So, terrorism became one of the big threat for the country’s tourism, in short it ruined the economy of Tunisia (Ghanmi, 2018). So, they need to have more strong security system to save the country’s tourism and the economy of the country. Now Tunisia is improving their security system and they have improved their tourism sector in compared to past.
Now coming to the point, not only terrorist attack but also the blindness of some political parties is causing economic crisis in Tunisia. According to Vasconcelos (2011), political and social problems in Tunisia is growing more and more. Political party should think about the people living in country, think about how to improve the situation of the country and how to solve the economic problem of the country. The thing is they are using this position for their own benefits they are not doing anything for the welfare of the country as stated by Ghanmi (2018). So, Political crisis is somehow responsible for the country’s economic crisis.
Most of the young generation who have already completed their studies but still they are struggling to find a job. Young generations are unemployed because of corruption and political issues and unequal problems. They don’t have job but started from food to everything in Tunisia is so expensive, which is causing poverty problem (Major problems facing Tunisia today, 2018).
One of the other problems is that of social crisis, due to gender gap, inequality and women’s rights (Harrer, 2018). In addition, Tunisian people don’t have the right to raise their voice.
It’s clear that Tunisia has lots of problems but still they have resources, like natural resources and Human Resource’s, which they can use to improve the situation of the country (Ghanmi, 2018). Tunisian people have lots of skills, so they can use their skills about, how they can use their natural resources to make their local business successful. If they can successfully do so and develop their local business, they can successfully export their business in the international platform. Young generation should use their skills in labor force to improve the situation and export their natural resources (Paciello, 2011). Furthermore, local business can help unemployment problems as Tunisia has a huge unemployment problem. In their local industry the people who are poor, they can work and they can overcome the situation of poverty and unemployment problem. They also can use their agricultural to help the economy of the country.
Again, the role of EU is very important for the democracy of Tunisia. EU should help Tunisia to overcome the economic crisis (Paciello, 2011). Moreover, Tunisia should reform new government and also new institutions which can help Tunisia to overcome and to improve, so that, Tunisia can stand back to its own feet (Karoui, 2018). Moreover, those new institutions, Political parties and government should work for the interest of the country not for their own benefit. They should input some political rules and regulations which every politician should bound to obey (Watanabe, 2018). In addition, Tunisia needs to reduce high tax, improve healthcare facilities, ensure human rights, eligible military force, equality in every sector, adequate job opportunities and strong political parties to get back their economy and a perfect democratic country.
