Political Theme in The Film Children of Men

Children of Men is a vastly rich in themes statement as it has a lot of deep and thoughtful meanings behind each scene.

Political is one of the major plot themes as it carries out the rest of the story like an igniter. Throughout the story political reference is everywhere inside the film, majority of propaganda uses the issue of everyone as their own tool to cause unnecessary or revolutionary chaos around them.

All the myth of the infertility crisis is almost like a blindfold that covers others from seeing the real deal. Many terrorist attack and rejection are formed because of it. As the government reject immigrants where they reluctant their full potential in solving the global crisis. The fishes want to help immigrants and also trying to discover the cure to infertility under the lead of julian, the fishes also seem to not as packed to be a force that can fight against the government as many seems to not obey julian’s call ,and some even has agreed of killing julian as it seems that they have forgotten the true meaning of being apart of the fishes.

The government is also focused on the wrong deal where they should’ve focused on solving for a cure as nothing would matter 100 years later as Theo suggested in the film. Both of the political force have the power to restore the last hope of humanity, without the right leader, the fishes are just another revolution team that causes trouble, and fighting for a dream cause that wouldn't exist any longer.

A world of chaos and without hope. Speaking of hope, it often grows in meaningless lives as people can spot hope under more dire situation. If things are fine the way they are, there is no need for such a thing as hope. Not every hope becomes reality and not everyone who grabs tight on the hope will have a great ending. Hope is sort by change as jasper suggested. Theo’s death is a great example at the end, even if he held his faith tight, it is still unscapeable that he will come to sacrifice for the sake of humanity. Theo goes under many involvement before he can spot his hope and ultimately reached his goal.

Inside the mind world of Theo Faron, from total hopelessness to a tiny light of hope, it is not something special. Many have lost hope, their will, to do what is special to them. When Theo lost his son, it is the lost of hope, he gave up his will of living up to his duty. And the meaning of what it means to be a father, the lack of purpose, or lack of hope is lethal, it pralalize people from moving forward. It is hard to escape without a guidance, or should I say without a change of perspective and shift his attention away from dylan’s death. When julian show up in his life again, it shifts theo’s attention away, this is the first hope introduce to theo as where he starts to slowy opening the doors and widen his visions towards what's presented in front of his eyes. When kee was introduced it is where Theo finally realize his purpose and hope in his inner self has lighten up once again.

This film in many ways contains many intents such as character growth and political movement and etc. The drugs and rejection of immigrants from the government. The fishes are a force fighting for the wrongdoing of the government but without sending the baby to the human project, they have already forbidden their cause and become an excuse to start a rebellion. But after all it still comes down to a matter of nothing if weren't for Theo’s action. The fishes are great people with fighting spirit but people like luke and patrick are terrorists and become leader of the group , it is no doubt that they become part of it. Thug leader, thug member. And this is the fishes, what about the government?

The government is not an honestly side either, as it seems that the wants to keep people under control, an example would be diego being described as a baby, which I believe it is because its a symbol of purity and naive, but the man is actually not as pure as what is shown in the television which they shown on the TV, it gives the citizens a false sense of the man being a good man. The government also kills immigrants, which is crossing the line, when there are no more human future generation, the doing of the government is a sin, as well as fastening the extinction of humanity. This move really shows the political side of the world, where decision has to be made, not for the best of humanity, but those with power in charges and grasp it in their hand. Some decisions are right and some are destructive. If the government welcomes the immigrants, infertility will be cured due to that kee will just go to the government straight for help and the cause of fishes is avoid as well. After the crisis, people would just go back to their home and live a live as they did before the crisis.
