The love song of J. Alfred Prufrock which is commonly referred “Prufrock” was termed as the first professional poem by T.S. Eliot. The structure of the poem was positively influenced by the author’s wide-ranging reading by Dante Alighieri, which makes a number of references to the Bible as well as other related literary works. Basically, Prufrock wails his intellect progress as well as physical inaction, the gone chances in his wellbeing and lack of enough spiritual achievement, hunted by reminders whereby he lacked carnal love. However, with a lot of a sense of decay when reflecting to awareness of mortality, the author has become famous in the voices of the new literature. This paper aims at critically analyzing and evaluating how the poem shows some themes as per the instructions provided.
In the love song of J. Alfred Prufrock, individuals are spiritually empty. This refers to the much depiction of modern urban community inside the poem, which simply appears to be a bit dull than before. The author can clearly be associated with a representation towards the modern urban dweller, who I pre-occupied with a variety of strategic measures, hairstyle, clothes as well as coming up with small talks over tea. In addition, there is nothing noble about the modern social wellbeing as described in the poem. At the same time, the author does chafe the opposite direction of the restrictions of such a society. Furthermore, the crucial sterility and emptiness of this type of life is a bit more described by the modern urban environment; the endless dreary streets, cheap restaurants and many others under all means.
Contemporary life is unromantic and offers no opportunities for heroism is a strategic measure which can clearly be identified in the poem. Prufrock’s exceptional love song focuses less when it comes to love, but a bit more on themes loneliness, isolation as well as repression with all what it takes. Prufrock’s public apprehensions constitutes to his difficulties when it comes to relating with other individuals, whereby his love songs abruptly becomes a sad one. This is termed to as an introspective self-talk under which Prufrock frequently puts himself to the ground while criticizing his own clothes. His related poor self-image leads him directly not to fulfill his great desires and adventures accordingly. Furthermore, Prufrock momentarily associates himself with a heroic character. However, he comes to realize that he can never be prince Hamlet but only a fool at the end, whereby he makes his last strategic measures in order to compensate for his failings under all means.
According to my own point of view, I think individuals are spiritually empty. This is because of corruption and lack of integrity associated with individuals in the current world, making everything to be in a total mess. Modern life offers no opportunity for heroism, which is clearly shown by the real life in the current world. The main issue in this case is how individuals handle themselves in a wrong manner, more so taking things for granted and failing to be a bit serious with life. For example, a lot of individuals are lacking job opportunities due to lack of knowledge, hence claiming that there are no job opportunities for such individuals in this globe. The two stressed themes across the whole poem clearly show how our normal life is full if mistakes, some misunderstanding and other related failures in life. To sum up, individuals should start acting in a different way in order to fill the already existing gap between them and success, in order to make sure that everything is in great control.
