Ever since I was a kid, I've wanted to help people feel better. It all started when my mom got really sick. She had this horrible pain from a fibroid when I was just 12. We rushed her to the hospital and watched as a group of health pros took care of her. They worked together like a team and in about a month, she was doing so much better. Seeing that made me think, "Wow, it must be awesome to make people feel better." That's when I knew I wanted to do something that helps others.
I decided to head over to the United States for my studies because I wanted a solid education in healthcare. After looking into several schools, Texas Southern University caught my eye. The history and vibe of the place were super convincing. During my time there, two big things stood out: making smart decisions on my own and putting other folks' needs first.
I thought maybe pharmacy might be my thing, so I took up a job as a Pharmacy Technician trainee at Walgreens. It was an eye-opener! Pharmacists are so dedicated, right? But after some weeks, I felt like it wasn't for me. Something was missing, you know? So, while working there, I started thinking about what would truly make me happy and let me build good relationships with patients.
I figured being a Physician Assistant is the way to go—not just for me but also to help others and give back to my community. Over the last four years of chasing my degree, I've learned patience and dedication. All these experiences have prepared me well for PA school.
So here I am now, ready to dive into this journey with all I've got!
