The purpose of this plan is to potentially decrease the target behavior of aggression that NH exhibits in the school setting. While decreasing the target/unwanted behavior, we will also be increasing the replacement behaviors, such as appropriate communication, so that NH can be able to socially interact with his peers in an appropriate way.
Short term goals would include NH being able to mand for a break with a verbal prompt for 85% of opportunities over the course of three consecutive days. Long term goals for NH is to have him be able to spontaneously communicate his feelings or wants and needs to his behavior therapist, aid, and peers. This would include NH manding appropriately for a break all on his own without any prompts from the school staff, peers, or behavior therapist. This will allow BH to communicate in a more appropriate way rather than exhibiting aggressive behaviors. It will also help him socialize better with his peers in the school setting.
There will be a one strategy put in place to prevent MOs for problem behavior. This procedure will be priming. Before NH transitions to a different task in the school environment he will be primed at the one-minute mark before he needs to transition. This will ensure that NH has awareness and a reminder of when he needs to move on to the next activity. This will in turn potentially eliminate aggressive unwanted behaviors from occurring.
The antecedent control strategy that will be used will be arranging establishing operations for the desirable behavior. The desirable behavior will be NH transitioning to three different table rotations without engaging in aggressive behaviors. This is an environmental event that changes the value of a stimulus as a reinforcer. The way that this strategy will be used is through the use of popsicle sticks. The popsicle sticks will have a number written on it which will indicate how many minutes NH will earn for free time after school. If NH can transition without having any aggressive behaviors, he will earn a 5-minute popsicle. He will earn these sticks throughout the day depending on the behaviors that occur will determine the amount of minutes NH will earn at the end of the school day.
NH will also be primed before transitioning to increase the likelihood of him earning the 5-minute popsicle sticks. He will also be praised ensuring positive reinforcement so that the these wanted behaviors are more likely to occur. Showing the popsicle sticks to NH and praising his appropriate behavior while using this antecedent strategy, the problem behaviors will not have any relevance because it will be redirected before it even happens.
