Homework is defined as tasks assigned to students by school teachers that are intended to be carried out during nonschool hours.Homework was invented by Robert Nevilis in 1905. He was a teacher who thought students needed more practice at home to understand about the lesson. Ever since, homework has been important to every teacher. Most of teachers say that it enhances the student’s ability to understand the subject better, but it does more than that. Research has shown that homework can lead to stress and depression for students. In 2013, research conducted at Stanford University found that students in high-achieving communities who spend too much time on homework experience more stress, physical health problems, a lack of balance in their lives, and alienation from society. Thus the reasons why homework should be banned are discussed in this essay.

The first reason is down time at home. For students who get homework and need 2 hours to do homework is a punishment after sitting 8 hours in class. Student needs going outside, meet with their friends, attending hobby clubs, helping parents, and, maybe, watching TV or playing games make kids feel kids. Students need fun activity to relax their mind after school. If students don’t get enough time to relax, they will become stress. A study by scholar Denise Pope at Stanford found out of 4,300 students at high performance schools 60% considered or stated that homework is a main source of stress. On the other hand, it can affect the students' health.

Secondly, homework should be banned from schools because students are made to do it when they are tired. After spending more time at school, students don’t have much energy to do homework. Consequence, most of students cannot do maximum or sometimes they ask their parents to do homework. It means that homework is useful.

The last reason is because it takes away and can completely mess up students’ sleep cycles. A research from teenink.com shows that students perform best in school when they recieve 10–12 hours of sleep each night, while only 15% of teenagers in america reported themselves sleeping 8 hours or more on school nights, according to the national sleep foundation of america. It can be happen because of doing homework. Some students who get more homework will get bed lately. So that, they have not enough time to sleep. Consequence, it can affect with their performance in school. The students will feel asleep during at school and cannot accept the lesson maximun. In addition, if they continue their habitual that go to bed lately, they will get health problem in the future.

Expert Review
The essay provides a comprehensive argument for why homework should be banned, highlighting its negative impacts on students' mental health, social life, and sleep patterns. The author effectively uses research, such as studies from Stanford University and the National Sleep Foundation of America, to support their claims. However, the essay would benefit from improved coherence and organization. Some arguments are repeated or presented in a confusing manner, which detracts from the overall clarity. Additionally, there are grammatical errors and awkward phrasing that could be refined for better readability. While the essay does address multiple aspects of the issue, it could strengthen its impact by offering potential alternatives to traditional homework that still achieve educational goals without causing stress or disrupting students' lives. Overall, while the essay is well-researched and covers relevant points, enhancements in structure and language would improve its effectiveness and persuasiveness.

What can be improved
The essay presents a compelling case against homework, successfully emphasizing its detrimental effects on students' mental health, social interactions, and sleep quality. However, several areas could be improved to enhance clarity and coherence. Firstly, the organization of ideas needs refinement; some arguments appear repetitive or disjointed. A clearer structure with distinct sections for each argument would help guide the reader through the discussion more effectively. For instance, grouping related points together can create a more logical flow. Secondly, attention to grammatical errors and awkward phrasing is essential for improving readability. Proofreading the essay or utilizing grammar-check tools can address these issues, making it easier for readers to engage with the content. Additionally, incorporating counterarguments and potential solutions would strengthen the essay's persuasiveness. Discussing alternative approaches to homework—such as project-based learning or flexible assignments—can demonstrate a balanced perspective while still advocating for reduced traditional homework. In summary, by enhancing organization, refining language use, and exploring alternative educational practices, the essay could become a more effective and persuasive argument against homework in schools.
