Reflection on The Courtroom Observation

On 27th September 2018 I attended the provincial court of British Columbia inCourtenay. In the court, food, drinks and cell phones on are not allowed. I reached in the court at before 2:00pm. Before entering the court, I met with a lawyer at there. I talked with a lawyer for case discussion. After, I did the cell phone off. I am entered in the court house room 222 for the court observation paper. The case started at 2:02pm. The court room is very pleasant. There are many chairs which has metal pews comfortable seats for the public to sit there. One chair for the judge came left side from the back and left.

There are two clerks available in the front of judge who help to the holding the paper from the lawyer to give the judge and they followed by the defense. There was one sheriff who hold the defended in the court room. The two lawyer who explain the situations very briefly which happen with the defend. Now, this was a first case which I saw. She told the story about the one person. In the court showed some papers by the lawyer then sometimes judge decided the person has released on the wale. This case was finished in 10 minutes. In the second, I saw a case in which one lady was a defend. She was a homeless lady. She was a drug addicted woman. Lawyer explain the story about the lady. She stole something from someone in the drug addiction situation. That from someone did complaint against this lady in the January month. But she was arrested at 29 may. After 31 may, she was released by the law. But, put some appointment for the complete the case. She missed the many appointments by some struggle situations. But, in the case lawyer told the situations which she has stuck in the problem such as he told she missed the bus for reaching the court to the appointment. Two or three times happen with her because she does not have enough money to the court. Because she is homeless lady.

On 27th September, she has an appointment in court then, for reaching in court she was catch the bus at 9: 30 am. Next, she took the bus at 11: 30 pm. She did a lot of struggle for that. By the one lawyer told the whole story about the lady. Some papers gave to the judge from the lawyer’s side. Again, against lawyer spoken a lot of thing which has some thing match with her life and some are not match with life. As per as, both the lawyer told the story. That time defend present in the court by the sheriff while troughing when the told the story by lawyer. That one lady wants to spoke something while against lawyer spoke in the front of the judge. lady has a fetch some few minutes to spoke something. After sometimes, judge did note all the things I saw. Everything read by the judge her reports. Finally, by the judge the first and last decision regarding the lady’s life. The decision was it as she released from the Prison. And, she was very happy, but she has a warning for the next time. Interestingly, I learn a lot of things from the court house. It was my first experience to entering the court house. Finally, she has acquired this thing as never again will do this thing.
