In the near future, V for Vendetta shows the horrible filled city of Britain which is going through a crisis. Throughout the chaos, V is considered the terrorist of the city as he backfires against the government. In the film, he rescues a young lady named Evey, which eventually causes them to grow a bond together. The entire reason of his rebellious acts goes back to an unfortunate event that the government did to him a long long time ago. In the film, the director was trying to achieve a man turning against the U.S government which was greatly displayed throughout the course of this film. Like many films before this, it shows what the directors thought the world would be like when they live in this day in age.
The film displays an extremely mood and deep tone all throughout with the amazing use of cinematography, costume designs, as well as the use of sound. In the film, thunder is used to display the emotionless mask that V is wearing. Although it may be a little difficult to tell during the film, the music choice and timing is used super effectively as it distributes different moods towards the film. The costume decision for V’s character is very essential towards this interest of the viewer as it leaves them on a sort of disturbed feeling until his identity is revealed. When Evey shaved her head, her character was perceived as a kind of new vibe and substance. The small detail in the movie made a curve in tone simply by changing the characters look.
I believe that the tone was appropriate for the film as it considered as a drama or thriller movie,, and each and every music piece and scene was orchestrated properly to deliver that tone. The point of view of the film is diverse as it is through Evey and V. Some parts of the film are simply split into the viewing of the two’s lives. The intended audience for this film is for both women and men between for ages of 15-50. It would be appealing to most ethnicities and people from around the world, but most specifically the white British population would find more relevance and understand possibly more dialect of the film. Lastly, the political aspect of the film would also be more appealing for people in Britain as it relates specifically to their country. There are many elements of narrative that can be displayed in this film. However some few that really stood out for me was the setting, as well as the weather. The setting of the film is very unique as it is shot in the city of London, England which gave it an urban aspect to the film. The weather in this movie portrays a very gloomy and dark city of London which is raining during parts of the film. In my opinion, I would rate the film an 8/10. It displayed a great amount of thriller and emotion that really grabs the attention of the viewer as it could be very suspenseful at times.
