This abandonment in his life has led him to become an abused orphan, be molested, watch his best friend die, and never have a girlfriend. These nightmares are the cause of all his anger.
The movie shows the importance of developing oneself and destroying your inner demons, his vicious, hair-trigger response to tricks and verbal spurring lands him in the workplace of Navy therapist Dr. Jerome Davenport. Fisher declines to talk. That is fine with Davenport, who calmly continues rescheduling him for week by week, one-hour sessions and doing printed material while the quiet young fellow sits in the room. Their first sessions are to a great extent described by the patient's squirming peacefully subsequent to expressing, "you might have the capacity to make me come here yet you can't make me talk.” Davenport responds to him by saying his first session will start once he begins talking. At the end of the fifth session, Antwone at last says, "what do you need me to state?", and Davenport reacts, "It's not what I need you to state, it's what you need to let me know." And their discussion proceeds with: "I comprehend you get a kick out of fighting." Now Antwone starts sharing his story, and the passionate conduits open. Amid the ensuing week after week treatment the specialist asks delicate yet testing inquiries, listens empathetically, and enables his patient to comprehend examples of imparted self-hatred that were set up in the times of subjugation, and have been passed down from age to age. Davenport utilizes an integrative methodology during his sessions with Fisher.

I really enjoyed the movie Antwone Fisher. It captured my attention from the beginning to the end. I really felt sorry for him when he was in foster care and that grown woman was molesting him. It seemed so unreal. I actually went and did some research after watching the movie to see if the movie contents were based true and they were. I have watched this movie about five or more times and every time I have cried. I understand why Antwone had so much anger inside him. He went through a lot as a child from birth until his late teens. The life he had to endure would cause anybody to be angry like he was or maybe even worse. During the counseling session Davenport breaks a lot of ethical codes including confidentiality breaches, by telling his wife what he discussed in his therapy sessions with Antwone.
In conclusion, after Davenports counseling sessions ended with Antwone, he goes back to his foster home to find closure. He shows them that they didn’t break him. He finds out who his father is. He meets his relatives and forges a relationship with his mother. She tells him she is sorry for all the suffering she has caused. Antwone returns to Colorado to tell Davenport that now he has many people in his life including his girlfriend Cheryl. He has finally faced and exterminated his demons. He can finally move on as a man.
