Schleswig-Holstein is the northernmost of the 16 states of Germany, currently ruled by Torsten Albig. The Nominal GDP of Schleswig-Holstein was €86 billion, while their per capita was €30,000 in 2015. Danish, German, Low German and North Frisian are the official languages of Schleswig-Holstein. Fifty-three percent of Schleswig-Holstein are Evangelical Protestants.

One problem they were facing in Schleswig-Holstein is that the fossil fuels they used for energy were very expensive. These forms of energy also polluted the air, affecting the ecosystem and the people living in the area. So, Schleswig-Holstein invested in renewable energy. Now, one hundred percent of the country is using renewable energy. In the long run, it’ll be cheaper and better for the environment and the people of the country. They mostly use wind power, because of the flat areas and coastline that makes it easy to harvest. They’ve since been increasing education and educating people on using energy-efficient devices in their own households and have created a renewable energy agency to manage and maintain the energy systems. This agency, The Schleswig-Holstein Renewable Energy Network Agency, provides services to support the over 23,000 businesses and help manage the energy in the area. Their renewable energy system includes over 23,000 companies, greatly helping their economy.

Schleswig-Holstein is playing a role in the problem because they’re showing how cheap and good for the environment renewable energy is. In turn, other countries may see this and decide they want to try out renewable energy. In a few years, it’ll be obvious to countries whether they should try it or not. Currently, Schleswig-Holstein is a state in Germany, whom may very well inspire all of Germany to use renewable energy. They also are modeling how great of an investment it is for the economy. Having 23,000 and counting businesses is very big, and the number will keep growing and show other countries why they should get some renewable energy. This area is very small. To be honest, most people don’t even have a clue what it is, as it sounds like a country but it’s only a state of Germany. Currently, there’s around twenty-three countries or cities with around one-hundred percent renewable energy. Two of those are other states or cities from Germany. This proves that Schleswig-Holstein is already inspiring other areas in Germany to use renewable energy. Most of the energy made by these areas is wind or solar, but one area has been investing in other technologies too.
