Sharing Academic Goals for a Bussiness Degree During Studying Abroad

In my academic goals for studying abroad essay, I aim to expand my knowledge, gain a global perspective, and foster cross-cultural understanding while pursuing my academic interests in a new and diverse environment. Keen interest in the field of Business will empower me achieve my goal. Global Economy captivates my interest on how it affects our daily lives on each decision, regardless of economy or money. Taking part in the study abroad programme with an Institution in Asia will help with working independently and understanding the issues facing the life-long learning.

This exchange programme will help me to achieve my goals, which would encourage me to work harder and pursue independent and critical thinking, whilst also improving communication skills. From studying abroad, I want to see the world where I will be able to work, the diverse groups, different inputs of ideas, differed cultures and also gain real world experiences as it would be essential to gain these. Different cultures and languages have always intrigued me; travelling in South Korea and Hongkong has increased my passion to gain knowledge of different cultures in today’s globalised world. Studying in Asia would enable the chance to completely immerse myself in a new language where the host university will offer me language courses. Improvement on language skills means that I will be able to communicate with locals, which will enhance greater understanding and bring in a positive attitude towards the culture connected with the language.

Furthermore, I have grown interest in the differences in teaching and learning styles between the UK and Asian institution, which would be beneficial to adapt to avoid issues within group or individual activities. The modules that I am currently studying have equipped me with necessary skills that can be practised in the host-country’s institution. Undertaking a Business degree at the University of Hertfordshire has allowed me to increase my skills on analytical and critical thinking, and has helped develop a broad knowledge of business operations within Europe. From this, I can share my personal knowledge with students in the host-country university. I am attracted by the range of modules offered by the host university, which is different from those at UH, and thus gives me the opportunity to specialise. I believe that by having the opportunity to study in an overseas institution, I will be able to interact and make connections with other international students, as well as experience culture diversities which can help me sharpen my communication skills. Working in a Korean Restaurant has enhanced my interactions with customers from all over the world. Moreover, creating lasting relationships with fellow students can be a rewarding networking tool, which can help with future career growth.

Fascinated by the distinctive cultural differences, I will be exposed to incredible new foods, customs, traditions and social atmospheres. I want to explore and have a better understanding of the host-country, including its university, people and history. Additionally, it will bring out my independent nature, which will boost my self-confidence through travelling alone to the country; it will also open my mind to take bigger risks and prepare me to try new things. Living and studying abroad should come naturally to me, as I was born in Hongkong, raised in Nepal and eventually moved to the UK.

In conclusion, studying abroad is not only great step towards a potentially rewarding career, but will also offer me fantastic opportunities to get involved with a range of activities which I have passion to be part of. From this study abroad programme, I want to be able to create great memories and gain valuable knowledge, which will be an advantage for my final year preparation.
