The question of when schools should start has been going around for ages. Some folks say that if schools kicked off later, kids would snooze more and ace their studies. On the flip side, others reckon it would mess with parents' schedules and cost a pretty penny to pull off. But honestly, I think pushing back school start times is a good idea for loads of reasons.

On top of getting enough sleep, starting later might actually help kids do better in school too. Studies show teens are naturally wired to stay up late and wake up late - that's just how they roll. When they're forced to learn early in the morning, it might not stick as well. But give them a bit more time in the morning? They might be sharper and remember stuff easier. Could mean better grades and all-around awesomeness in academics.
We can't forget about mental health either. Teenagers deal with tons of stress already and not getting enough sleep only makes it worse. If they had more time to rest, maybe they'd handle life's curveballs a bit better - feeling happier and healthier overall.
Now, some people might worry that starting later throws off parents’ routines or costs too much. Sure, there are challenges but research shows the pros outweigh the cons here. The CDC found that delaying school starts could save big bucks in healthcare costs down the line 'cause healthier kids mean fewer doctor visits.
So what do we do? It's clear schools need to put students first - letting them get that crucial sleep so they can really shine both in school and life.
