Based on the movie that I have watched, I have noticed that there are many significant impacts underlying in the capitalism market structure.
Firstly, under capitalism market structure, people tend to have a very strong automatic incentive to work for more profit and money with the aim to sustain their lives or improve their living condition. This leads to the society to have a greater variety of goods and services, jobs available in the market which enhances the business trading and the economy of the country. Despite that, this causes the market to be extremely competitive which has shown in the movie where Chris Gardner is forced to work extra harder than everyone else to stand out differently in order to get one job position among all the interns in the company, Dean Witter.
Secondly, based on the first example above, it will lead to high unemployment rate and inflation to occur. The reason being is that the market is lacking social welfare which causes unemployed people to suffer through their livings. As shown in the movie, Chris Gardner is having a huge problem to survive and raise his son in a very poor condition whereby he needs to take care of his son, study and work, and earn extra money to pay rental and their basic expenses by promoting and selling medical scanners, all at the same period of time. In fact, under capitalism market structure, most of the assets are privately owned by the rich and successful people; as for a businessman, they would not do non-profit business such as renting their buildings or giving out free foods to the poor. Thus, this causes the government and social welfare organizations to have limited resources to assist those who are jobless and homeless.
Lastly, this kind of economy is very flexible yet often unstable. Indeed, people have absolute economic freedom to choose for their jobs or consumer goods and services; however, there is limited job opportunities given by the society. Additionally, the economy is unpredictable. For instance, Chris Gardner used to think that working as a salesman by selling scanners can get them to have a better life. However, the economy for that time was not good at all, doctors think that the product he was promoting is an useless luxury good, and that makes him struggle a great deal to sell his products.
