Background literature

Smart wardrobe can facilitate us to manage our garments within wardrobe. Besides associate degree connected screen, it also can push all knowledge into cloud and more correct up knowledge with mobile application. User will get suggestion on what to wear nowadays from their phone app base on what event ar there in their calendar and conjointly the weather. In this thesis project, our goal is to place along a group of technologies into a system that would be wont to aid the user within the coming up with of their garments. So as to realize this goal, we'd like to be ready to establish that garments ar wear fairly often, that ar less used. We'd like to classes our garments like Casual dress, Formal, ceremonial dinner, Business Party, and social event then on. Additionally, we'd like to introduce some level of smartness into the resultant system so as that; less input is also needed from the user, errors that result from user input ar decreased, and scale back waiting time as process goes on. The appliance can offer a dashboard to indicate that that textile having the very best frequency of carrying and that isn't touched for very long time. Application will more counsel the user to sell the unused garments or gift them to charity.

Existing systems

Smart Wardrobe is a fairly new area of research and literature on the subject is not readily available or accessible, whatever that exists is mainly conference proceedings or reports on projects most of which have not been progressively developed or didn’t get to be marketed commercially. We did a survey of current technologies on the market and at the end of the day; we made a selection of the most appropriate ones. These included an Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, Arduino UNO, RFID system and Microsoft Azure Cloud assisted by a middleware application working together to give the user a new experience on how they interact with their wardrobe and at the same time enable the wardrobe to support the user in selecting their clothes to be wear in different occasion thereby saving their time they would have spent in the manual Selection and at the same time reducing on the stress associated with the activity. We chose to have this done at the wardrobe since it is the one place where the clothes are stored. As is, the system may require quite some changes to realize a user experience that would be acceptable but at least we have provided a basis for future research. We have identified challenges and future enhancement sections below. Challenges in the development of this system mainly lie in the chosen supporting technologies and the current state of wardrobes and clothes. For instance we would require that all clothes be tagged before they can be useful in the system.

Literature survey

The IoT is enabled by the latest developments in RFID, smart sensors, communication technologies, and Internet protocols. The basic premise is to have smart sensors collaborate directly without human involvement to deliver a new class of applications.

Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of physical objects or systems embedded with electronics, software, sensors and connectivity to enable it to achieve greater value and service by exchanging data with the connected devices. RFID communication to track every cloth. Weather based sensors to give suggestions according to the weather.

Raspberry Pi is a capable credit-card sized computer that has the ability to interact with the outside world. Today's home automation systems are more likely to distribute programming and monitoring control between a dedicated device in the home, like the control panel of a security system, and a user-friendly app interface that can be accessed via an Internet-enabled PC, smartphone or tablet. IOT is required for automation where, we require, low data rate, low power consumption, low cost, security and reliability.

The RFID reader is used to detect the presence or absence of clothing items inside the wardrobe. Therefore, each clothing item that the user has must be tagged with RFID tags. Application utilizes a database consisting of several tables; one table stores information on clothing attributes retrievable using the id; another table records the data generated by the user’s wardrobe dressing activities. The smart wardrobe application is the core processing component. It handles and processes the captured RFID events, which are used to identify the presence and absence of clothing items. Each tag has a unique id, thus enabling the application to differentiate one item from another. The RFID reader is designed to periodically read all tags attached to clothing items in the wardrobe. Signals are sent to the smart wardrobe application if items are present in the wardrobe.

The IoT is comprised of smart machines interacting and communicating with other machines, objects, environments and infrastructures. In home by using the IoT system remotely monitor and manage our home appliances and cut down on your monthly bills and resource usage.

Microcontroller reads the data and sends the data over Wi-Fi to the IOT web page. The Microcontroller is programmed used embedded C language. 2) GSM technology is used to control the display board and for conveying the information through a message sent from authenticated user. A factor which limits the realization of present security tools is that the IoT devices typically have to perform in extreme, erratic, and hostile surrounding environments, which can be susceptible to damage and despicable intentions. Since data is emitted by RFID tags wirelessly and sent to appropriate reader device, there is a risk of data being intercepted by some attacker. The main advantage of using RFID proposed system is that it minimizes the average positioning error, easily scalable and does not require sensor calibration plus time synchronization.

Problem definition

“I have nothing to wear. ” We’ve all been there. One second you’re in front of your closet and the next you’re surrounded by a sea of clothing. Clearly the problem isn’t that we have nothing to wear — it’s often that we don’t know what we have and end up wearing the same five outfits on repeat. People these days wish to searching and get garments. But most of the garments are going to be storing within wardrobe for while even up to many years. Particularly in those countries with high wetness, garments will simply get formed whereas golf shot it aside for while. Smart wardrobe can facilitate them to manage their garments within wardrobe. Besides associate connected screen, it may also push all information into cloud and any correct up information with mobile application. User will get suggestion on what to wear nowadays from their phone app base on what event area unit there in their calendar and conjointly the weather.

Phase I:

  1. Planning: Applying agile methodology for Smart Wardrobe for better usage of resources and time with great performance.
  2. Analysis: Prepare a detailed analysis on Smart Wardrobe system and overcoming its limitation in our system.
  3. Design: Integration of data and designing of system.
  4. Coding: Writing the code for RFID module and taking help of open source.
  5. Implementation: For 1st time registration, user can have to be compelled to let RFID scanner read the tag and a push notification are going to be shown within user’s mobile application.

User can have to be compelled to key in more details concerning this cloths for instance color, type, name, etc. Once record is made, system can mechanically track the item casting off or fixing from wardrobe. Once consolidating knowledge, a report are going to be generated and provides user higher plan of that fabric is most most well-liked or that is most unwanted.

Phase II:

  1. Testing: Doing the various test on smart wardrobe system like unit testing, integration testing, and system testing etc. of test case data to check if the integrated system functions are as desired by the client.
  2. Deployment: Conduct beta testing for identifying any further errors, bugs and improvements that can be performed. After the testing and approval deploy the proposed system.

Scope

The Universal app system side running on Microsoft Azure VM is ready to support high traffic and permit users to register associate degree account. The app acts as a traditional digital wardrobe to assist user track their garments on their windows tendevices/mobile phones, while not putting in Raspberry PI and RFID. The app can facilitate users get suggestions on that garmentsto wear supported any event within the synced calendar, and conjointly in keeping with the prognosis. Once wardrobe information is synced with the mobile app, the app can any show the user that textile is worn for the utmost varietyof times and that one has least frequency. If there's any apparel that has been not been touched for quite a year, app can then counsel user to wear it, sell it or gift it.

Features

  1. Put together a set of technologies into a system that could be used to aid the user in the planning of their clothes.
  2. The application will provide a dashboard to show that which cloth having the highest frequency of wearing and which is never touch for long time.
  3. To suggest user on which cloth to wear base on any scheduled event in the event planner, and also weather forecast.
  4. The app will also suggest user to donate, exchange or sell the unwanted clothes.
  5. Easier to understand and use.
  6. Faster than doing manual work.
  7. Able to make progress reports etc.

Expected outcomes

Phase I: This system will be instrumental into keep tracking of wearing frequency of cloths in wardrobe. It will also suggest a garment on basis of least recent used phenomenon. This system will store usage data and log data on Azure Cloud, this will furnish user to access data from anywhere anytime.

Phase II: Any bugs later found will be dealt with and new features like suggestions through weather tracking will be implemented.
