Internet technology was introduced in the 1960s. The predecessor of the modern Internet was called ARPANET, and it was created in 1969 by the Agency for Advanced Study Projects (ARPA) in the US Department of Defense. In principle, they simply wanted to create an electronic communication system that could carry military data without interference. In 1971, engineer Ray Tomlinson invented the first email (email). Twenty years later, in 1991, British scientist Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web and created a hypertext markup language (HTML) that establishes references.

Development of Social Networks

Social networks have evolved since Internet technology was first developed in the 1960s. One of the first online communities was Usenet, which was created by graduates of Duke University, Tom Truscott and Jim Ellis. Usenet was like a discussion forum where students can share their opinions and suggestions. In 1984, a similar method of interactive interaction was introduced called the Bulletin Board System (BBS). Later, the emergence of social networks broke up with the invention of the World Wide Web by the British scientist Tim Berners-Lee in 1991.

One of the most popular social networks in history, Friendster, was founded by Jonathan Abrams and launched in 2003. Along with Friendster, LinkedIn and MySpace also became popular in their respective fields. After 2003, social networks became so popular that by the time Facebook was launched in 2006, Internet users had more than two hundred social networks. Currently, Facebook is considered the most successful social network with more than 1.06 billion active users per month, 680 million mobile users, more than 50 million pages and 10 million applications. (Data for April 2013)

Advantages of Social Networks

Field of education In a survey conducted by the Pew Internet Project, he showed that 67% of online adults use social networks. These data describe the fact that social networks can be used to improve the education of adults and students, because they already have a certain impact on students. The main advantage is that students can learn topics that interest them using online social networks, as they can have limited resources and time at school. In addition, for adults with unique interests, it is not easy to find friends with the same interest in conversation or discussion. However, social networks connect these people with the same passion, where they can interact with people from different parts of the world. On the other hand, teachers can take advantage of the social networking opportunities of students to create discussion forums, class blogs and online learning. This interaction between students and teachers, acting social networks as an environment, can help students gain opportunities to encompass knowledge in a broader field and to interest them.

Schools also use social networks as an intermediary element to keep in touch with students. Some networks, such as Facebook, Moodle, Secondlife, Digg and other networks, are often used by teachers to communicate with students and conduct extra-curricular discussions. Thus, it is quite obvious that for the impact of social networks on education there are a number of advantages. 2.2 Scope of activities Social networks occur on a network where people meet and exchange ideas, recommendations and experiences. Thus, it seems like unhindered communication with a wide audience through various platforms or sites. This is one of the factors that organizations are interested in on social networks, as they can receive various suggestions and feedback from people.

Many companies use social networks, such as Twitter and Facebook, to communicate with customers and potential customers. This provides an excellent opportunity for applicants to learn more about the organization and easily connect with people who work there. Applicants can get to know those who work through these social networks, and once they reach a strong presence in these networks, it becomes possible to reach out to people who have the authority to hire an employee. Different types of social networks provide effective ways to find work. You can find information about the company in Google, just by typing the name of this company.

Facebook, Twitter and FourSquare are excellent social networks to be able to interact with people who work in the organization. If you're lucky, you can meet with a recruiting agent and talk and discuss what might increase the chance of getting a job. Moreover, the profile can be spread over social networks, which will increase the likelihood of getting a job. Mariam Salpeter, founder of Keppie Careers, suggests that "creating an online presence allows you to hire managers, recruiters, colleagues and friends to learn more about you, about what you offer and what you want. It's a way to attract work to you instead of you wasting your time looking for work " One of the most important points that point to the influence of social networks on the business sphere is marketing in social networks. By means of social networks, as stepping, the marketing of social networks can receive many benefits, including building relationships, brand building, advertising, promotions, etc. Thus, it can be concluded that marketing in social networks offers several opportunities for entrepreneurs, small businesses, medium-sized companies and large corporations to create their own brands and businesses.

Disadvantages of Social Networks

Crime Stressing the advantages of social networks, it does not necessarily mean that there are no shortcomings in them. Recently, online crime, also known as Cybercrime, offers a growing threat to all Internet users. This includes online sexual exploitation and cyber bullying. One of the main problems associated with the eradication of cybercrime is that it is difficult to identify a perpetrator, and it is almost impossible to monitor full employment in such a wide network.

Sexual exploitation on the Internet One of the most aggressive forms of cybercrime is sexual exploitation on the Internet. This includes sharing pornography, persuading for sex and sex chat. According to a study commissioned by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, there are more than 665,000 registered convicted sex offenders in the United States of America. This means that in each of the seven children a sexual predator on the Internet turned. This is 13% of children who use the Internet. In addition, the Center for Combating Sexual Crime (DSM) noted that the average sex offender offends 16 years before he is finally caught. During this time, he committed an average of 318 crimes and violated 110 victims. With regard to these data, it can be clearly seen that sexual exploitation on the Internet destroys the lives of children using social networks.

Cyber-bullying. Getting rid of drug addiction is different from beatings from person to person, as hooligans can not be easily identified, and they have a sense of security that convinces them that they will not be caught. Not knowing the harm done to the victim, hooligans do not feel any guilt or sympathy.

Cyber-bullying is also a form of cybercrime, which includes various industries. The most common type is called harassment, when abusive and offensive messages are repeatedly sent to the victim. Other types of cyberbullying, such as blazing, insulting, impersonating, walking, deception and exclusion, are also found in the world of social networks. The most important path is cyberstocking, which fuels harassment with significant threats and creates fear.

Addiction to social networks used as an educational assistant also have a negative impact on students. One of these impacts is network dependency. A survey conducted by the International Center for Medicine and Public Relations of the University of Maryland (ICMPA) showed that people under the age of 25 are more likely to get infected with social networks, and two thirds of students who use social networks have already shown some dependence, the Fifty percent of people aged 25 to 35 years recognized that they are so attached to social networks that they even use them during working hours. In addition, children can also become attached to social media, if there is no parental guidance.

Analyzing all the advantages and disadvantages of social networks, organizations that indicate their interest in social networks have developed several recommendations regarding the use of social networks.

First, parents should regularly check the profile of their children and explain cybercrime. This will force children to be familiar with approaches to cyber predators, and parents can take precautions for their children.

Secondly, one should not accept the requests of friends if the person is not familiar in the real world. In addition, personal information such as address, telephone number and email address on social networks should not be transferred. Finally, if someone mocks or is harassed, he or she must report to the authorities about the relevant social networking sites and contact the police if serious threats occur.
