Changes in climatic conditions have become a global issue that needs to be addressed appropriately. The danger of climate change should be taken seriously and should not just be limited to scientists, but also to the common citizens who should be aware of the threats that changes in climatic conditions pose. The manner in which the world population has been increasing is an indication that the earth’s pressure will consequently increase critically. Pollution of air and water in recent times is also another concern that should be considered. The ongoing changes in climate that take place across the universe pose a danger to the society and the environment at large. Despite the dangers that changes in climatic conditions pose, no clear remedy is yet to be established. Climate changes take place because of the continuous increase in temperature which in turn harms mankind as it has a direct effect on health. The unexpected change in temperature causes high heat waves in summer and cold waves during winter. Changes in climate also result to extreme floods, droughts, hurricanes and landslides.
Climate change causes chronic health challenges such as cancer, heart problems, and asthma. People who are most exposed to these challenges include women, children and old age. Factories that release waste products and pollutant materials are the main contributors to this devastation. Climate changes have several consequences with the most horrible being pollution of water and air, which are considered as the most important necessities of human life. Increase in temperature and ultra-violet rays enlarge the ground-level ozone, thus damaging tissues of the lung which results in severe lung infections. Another serious challenge that has been detected is the continuous enlargement of sea level on an international level because of the rise in ocean temperatures. Because of the adjustments, there are small caps of ice and mountains glaciers that melt quickly along the Antarctic Ice Sheet and Greenland. Changes in climatic conditions have massive consequences, among them being the rise in greenhouse emissions. Greenhouse gases lock in warmth in the environment. Gases like carbon dioxide naturally occur even though they are produced in quantities that are abnormal through activities that are carried out by human beings. These activities include burning of fuels like coal, diesel, petrol, oil, kerosene and natural gas. Motor vehicles give off destructive substances like dangerous smoke and pollutions which contribute to changes in climatic conditions.
Even though most establishments have been trying to bring down the rate of air pollution, the consequences of these efforts have not been encouraging. Consequently, there should be efforts aimed at reversing and slowing down the rate of climate change. Among the efforts include foregoing fossil fuels through eliminating the burning of oil, natural gas, and coal. This is perceived as the most difficult approach because most individuals from rich countries work, eat, sleep and play on products that are manufactured from sunshine that is fossilized. Even though there are no ideal resolutions for the reduction of how people depend on fossil fuels, people should be encouraged to use alternatives whenever possible and to make sure that they invest in these changes. This could be achieved through the use of plastics that are plant-derived, wind power and biodiesel and make investments which include separating from oil stocks and companies that practice capture and storage of carbon.
Another strategy that can help in controlling changes in climate is the upgrade of infrastructure. Most buildings globally are the cause of a third of all the greenhouse emissions, although making investments on thick insulations and cheap steps of regulating temperature. Making investments in new infrastructure or fundamentally upgrading the current transmission lines and highways would assist in reducing greenhouse emissions and foster economic development. Moving close to workplaces is another approach that can help in reducing changes in climatic conditions since transportation is considered the second biggest cause of greenhouse production. When individuals move closer to their places of work, they use other modes of transport which do not need other forms of human energy like walking or cycling instead of driving. Other forms of saving fuel emissions include telecommuting and working from home. Another significant way of controlling the changes in climate is through stopping the cutting down of trees. 33 million acres of forests are brought down annually whereby it affects agricultural practices and management of forests. Individuals should ensure that they purchase used products when purchasing products that are made from wood. Climate changes can also be controlled through the replacement of fossil fuels that might establish the challenge posed by the types of fuels that are currently used. Biofuels have numerous negative effects, which range from an increase in food prices to using up more energy than what they produce. Hydrogen is supposed to be created, thus requiring either making reforms on electricity or natural gas in order to crack molecules of water. Motor vehicles that use hybrid biodiesel provide the best solution in transportation in the short term, considering diesel’s energy density and carbon’s neutral implications from fuels that are produced by plants and emissions from electric engines. These solutions provide an outline of controlling changes in climate and as such, individuals and national efforts should work towards reducing the effects of climate change.
