Statement of Purpose (information Technology and Cyber Security)

Bangladesh is still progressing in the field of technology. Our government has implemented a new plan named Digital Bangladesh by 2021 that includes the use of IT for management, administration and governance. So, the IT sector is flourishing now in our country creating more employment opportunities for computer engineers and IT specialists. According to Kaspersky Lab, Bangladesh has ranked in second-placed for attacked by mobile malware and it has become one of the most vulnerable countries in cyberspace. Cyber protection is a real concern and companies spend heavily to ensure the security of their computer systems.

Information Technology with a specialization in Internetworking and Cyber Security program will help to understand in depth knowledge of security and how to protect valuable data from cyber-attackers.

I have chosen Australia rather than any other countries or my home country because Australian universities offer a wide variety of courses and very good for higher studies and some of them at the top of world university rankings especially in technology sector.

The reason for choosing Macquarie University for further my studies is because

• Macquarie University is situated in Sydney which is one of the world’s best student-friendly cities especially for international students
• Like many other international students, I would like to study in a country where there is a multicultural environment and Macquarie University is exactly the place for it.
• Macquarie University has a 5-star QS rating.
• Provides many Scholarships.
• Macquarie University also gives an exchange and overseas opportunities for international students.

My overall goal is to get the degree from Macquarie University and to use the experience for technological development in my own country. The education and experience I will be gaining there will be transferable to my future academic work, research or a career in an industry.

The value of an Australian degree in your job sector is very high. Big technology companies also offer better salaries than local Engineers or IT specialists. With enough experience, I can even start IT business of my own.

I had a serious bike accident back in 2015 and had been suffering for the last two and a half years. Now, I can walk without a crutch. It is the main reason for my study gap after finishing my undergraduate in Malaysia.

There is another saddest parts of my life was my mother’s death. She died 7 months ago and I can't cope with the loss. I am still struggling to get back up again.

So, Master of Information Technology with a specialization in Internetworking and Cyber Security is an essential program and I would like to study this program. I sincerely believe that graduation at Macquarie University will be a great step in this.
