The Only Thing That Is Constant Is Change ― Heraclitus. As old and cliché as this may sound, our world continues to validate this as we see the dynamics in people, organizations and technology. As a child, my dream was to become a banker. Studying Computer Science and working at a software company were not part of my plans. However as my environment changed, so did I. Determined to enhance my understanding of the interrelationship between IT and business and also fascinated about management and consulting, I have the desire to pursue an MBA with the Management Information Systems specialization. This same phenomenon is applicable to organizations and technology. My four year undergraduate training in Computer Science has afforded me an open mind to be able to accept and implement new concepts and ideas.
I have always had interest in IT and therefore I took it upon myself to develop interest that area especially when I received an award for Computer studies in junior high school. I also helped my uncle run a small sized computer training school when I entered senior high school. At that time I helped prepare notes and assignments for Microsoft excel, word and publisher. This basic knowledge came in handy when I landed my first job after my undergraduate studies with DreamOval Ltd, a software development firm that delivers digital products and services. Starting with performing stock and logistic functions, I progressed to assisting the technical team in configuring solutions and the business team in sales of their digital products. My hard work, dedication and versatility made it possible for me to learn from the various departments of the company, especially the Customer Support department, Data Science department and Sales department.
With the rigor of classes and seminars I took in Ghana, coupled with leadership skills I possess, I would rather belong to an educational community where a person’s intellectual development, potential and talent are the main goals and where the members of the community are inspired to live virtuous by using their gifts and talents to serve the needs of humankind as an expression of their love for God and neighbor. I am driven to pursue the MBA in Management Information Systems program which I believe will fine-tune and focus my career in the direction I desire. I chose to apply because of my interest in gaining eclectic high quality education. After reviewing a number of graduate level MBA in MIS programs, I am most drawn to Management Information Systems since the objectives and courses align well with my goals. Although I have learnt a lot from my educational journey so far, I am very optimistic about my future with an MBA in MIS.
From my experience at tertiary education especially doing internships to working in an IT firm, I know that the fulfillment I hope to attain from completing the MBA in MIS program will definitely outweigh all the challenges that may come my way throughout my period of study. As [name of sch] is a vibrant community of people with a wide variety of backgrounds and experience, I look forward to share my culture with other students and also learn to function in a multicultural and multiethnic setting in a natural ambiance. I seek diversity because I believe it enriches the educational experience. I hope to have a favorable application outcome.
