Success Cannot Be Nurtured by Laziness

Decisions and objects in the modern world are often made in haste. The source of this haste is laziness. One does not wish to do the task, so they hurry through it instead of taking their time. Laziness is severely detrimental to humanity’s growth, and has stopped many major advances. Unless laziness comes to a halt, the world misses out on many amazing opportunities. The children of tomorrow are learning from example, and the current state of the world today is not doing them any favors.

As time goes on, the rate of unemployment drastically increases. Some of these cases are since citizens do not want to work anymore, as they would rather stay at home and do nothing. This has led to large decreases in business and products being manufactured. When production begins to decline, commerce and revenue do also. Companies are now having to spend more money to create advertisements. They intend for these advertisements to motivate workers to get up and do their job instead of standing idly (Weeks, Linton.). This decrease in revenue leads to more taxes and inflation for average working Americans.

One crisis Americans face today is child neglect. Neglect is defined as the failure to meet a child’s basic needs. One of the main causes of neglect is laziness. His is because the parent does not wish to do the work that is coupled with raising children, so they put tasks off and the children suffer. Neglect can result in a child being taken from their family, and inflict personal trauma upon them. One such example of neglect, is Isaiah Dickerson. Dickerson was attending the Cincinnati zoo with his parents. His caregivers did not watch him, instead focusing on themselves (Thomson, Jason). This led to the boy falling more than fifteen feet into a gorilla enclosure. Not only could the initial fall have killed him, but also the wild animals that live in the enclosure.

Laziness also leads to household incidents. Many Americans find cleaning out the lint filter on their dryer a hassle. So, many leave the lint in the filter for a few cycles. This is extremely dangerous. Not only can lint help start a fire, but it also continues to fuel the fire as kindling (Bazjek, Thomas). Many people also prefer to let their cars run for a short time before getting in them on cold mornings. If the car is enclosed in a garage, and the door is shut, carbon monoxide begins to fill the area. Carbon monoxide is extremely deadly. In 362 carbon monoxide poisonings, 76 proved to be fatal (Iqbal, Shahed.). Because, the average person does not wish to wait around for their car to warm, or put in effort to clean the dryer, deaths occur.

Laziness is a definite hazard to the safety and growth of America. It shows a complete lack of respect for the self and others. Not only does it affect the current lazy people, but children learn from example. This means that future generation are lazy as well, and benefit no more than the current adults and caretakers. For the sake of America’s future and children, laziness must be eradicated.
