The boundless changes in globalization and design engineering have made the role of an IndustrialEngineer essential. In this swiftly proliferating community, it is my desire to be a part of it. I believe that an MS in Industrial Engineering is a global platform for me to discover the current practices, growing challenges and advanced knowledge that will help me acquire a global career in my field and allow me to contribute global solutions effectively. My strong academic credentials and a keen interest in industrial research motivated me to opt for a course in Industrial Engineering. I am also convinced that this is indeed my field of calling and narrowed down my areas of interest to Supply Chain Management and Product Development. This field has become increasingly ubiquitous in the sense it exists in transportation, manufacturing, healthcare, etc.

Novel designs in IndustrialEngineering have the power to create a huge impact on a person and society. An example is the use of plastic syrup bottles that do not break easily which were once made of glass. My natural interest and acumen towards Mathematics since childhood added to my proficiency in production engineering and are the competencies that will assist me in performing complex calculations in a course like Industrial Engineering. I have understood and comprehended how to do things better and realized the need for greater efficiency and approach to tasks, a method that is applicable to every walk of life. I keenly wish to use this efficient and innovative approach to contribute towards this field by creating cutting-edge methods for the development of engineering applications in industrial sectors. This belief has evolved over time. In early childhood, my father’s work of T.V.S Sundaram fasteners helped me to understand the basic knowledge of the production and manufacturing. I enjoyed analyzing and comparing the working of bolts and nuts of different makes and brands, oblivious of the happenings around.

An implicit interest since my school days mesmerized me with this technology, its working principles involved and other related systems. My thirst towards knowledge kept increasing, which made me choose production engineering as my major field of study, which I desire the most. Choosing science as a mainstream in preUniversity College has provided me with strong basics of physics, which plays a paramount part in an undergraduate curriculum. Further by securing distinction at the university level, I was able to secure an admission in the production engineering department at ‘Velammal Engineering, affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, India, one of the most prestigious institutions in India. In my UG studies, I learned subjects like industrial management, production, and manufacturing engineering, operation management and quality control. I completed courses in AutoCAD, Catia, Solid Works, Creo, and Ansys, which are necessary fundamentals of design and development sectors. One of my early exposures to the approaches of Industrial Engineering is when I designed and fabricated sheet metal punching machine.

It introduced me to essential concepts and best practices like reducing downtime, costing, enhancing operational effectiveness, and making the best use of available resources. This knowledge helped me to come up with a model which simultaneously increases the efficiency and accuracy of the machine. I completed a major project on Site leaks and defect analysis in boiler header welding, which helps in enhancing the mechanical properties. I carried out numerous experiments and optimized on the best combinations of parameters required for effective enhancement of the desired properties and in the process understood the engineering behind producing an efficient product with better applications. Gradually I sharpened my skills in product design and development, which I think are core necessities in this field. I completed my industrial training in TVS SundaramFasteners limited, Ashok Leyland limited, Rane- Madras limited India and gained hands-on experience in manufacturing processes and knowledge of how a plant operates from the initial phase of procuring raw materials till the dispatch official components. I sensed the importance of effective industrial communication for healthy labor coordination, eventually resulting in a complete quality product development. Furthermore, I attended a workshop on Supply Chain management in G. A. Menon Academy Training and also Kerala Microsoft Users Group Workshop on Artificial Intelligence andDigital Future.

All the practical experiences were eye-openers for me on various facets like lean manufacturing, process and production planning, quality control, inventory, supply chain and shop engineering activities. This exposure induced me to widen my horizon in Industrial Engineering and its techniques, also strengthening my interest to do my masters in this particular subject. After my under graduation, I felt I should have some practical experience before going for higher studies that I decided to take up a job. The constant increasing role of automation in technological development can be achieved effectively and I got the opportunity to work as a software engineer at UST Global PrivateLimited. Providing technical development within a time constraint added to my knowledge of data analytics, customer relationship, and quality. Handling business users, resolving with functional and technical issues, apt resources, technical negotiation, estimation of time, cost control have increased further my organizational management skills. I received numerous awards and appreciation from a client for my project.

My experience has provided me with valuable technical knowledge and experience that will be of great use in my future technical and management-related work Attending many technical fests and conferences brought me face-to-face with the state of the art techniques and technologies being used and proposed. I worked as an organizing committee member with Fornya(National level symposium) at Velammal Engineering college and also Organized and participated in various technical and sports events has allowed me to nurture my interpersonal communication skills, leadership qualities, and team spirit. I received Quality Circle winner award from Lakshmi Vidya Sangam. Besides academics, I have a passion for table tennis, which greatly boosted my mental and physical strength and helped me fasten my decision-making skills. I love to go the extra mile for people and was engaged as a volunteer with Bhumi, NGOin most social activities in my college during my study there.

My main aim in pursuing an MS program is to gain an in-depth understanding of fundamental theory, hardware components, simulation and programming tools, and practical applications of industrial engineering principles. I will also gain advanced knowledge of, which are used by practicing professionals. An MS industrial Engineering will also allow me to gain cross-cultural experience and enhance [A1] my inter-personnel skills as I would collaborate with my peers from diverse countries. From the information gathered I’ve inferred the graduate program“Industrial and Human Factors Engineering”, at <> has excellent facilities for research and an eminent faculty.
