For many British citizens was morning 24 June 2016 a huge shock to discover that UK had voted to leave EU. Prime minister (David Cameron) had resigned, Scotland was contemplating a referendum that could bring an end the existence of the UK. British inhabitants claimed that they have never seen so many levels of xenophobia and racist abuse in the streets of Britain.

I have divided this report into several questions which I would like to explain simply. First of all, we have to ask a fundamental question.

What is Brexit?

Brexit is a shortcut for British exit which means an end of the membership with EU. On 23 June 2016 UK government declared a referendum which means that people in a country have to decide a political or social question. On 23 June the question was: „Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the EU or leave the EU?” Leave EU won by 51.9% to 48.1% with more than 30 million people voting.

What is cased for leaving?

Many political scientists claim that there are two things in this case. The first one is the cultural nostalgia for Britan’s position in the world. Britain used to be independent to make decisions without having to consult Brussels. The UK would like to secure an explicit recognition that the euro is not the only currency of the European Union. Then there is immigration: Avoid an access to in-work and out-of-work benefits to EU migrants. Specifically, ministers want to stop those coming to the UK from claiming specific benefits until they have been resident for four years.

What changed in government after the referendum?

As mentioned before David Cameron had to resign. He said: "In my view, the circumstances of my resignation as Prime Minister and the realities of modern politics make it very difficult to continue on the backbenches without the risk of becoming a diversion to the important decisions that lie ahead for my successor in Downing Street and the Government.“ After Cameron’s resignation Queen Elizabeth II. named Theresa May as Prime minister on 13 July 2016. He also said: “I fully support Theresa May and have every confidence that Britain will thrive under her strong leadership.“

When will UK leave the EU For the UK to leave the EU was necessary to invoked Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty which is going to take two years. Theresa May brought about this process on Friday 29 March 2019. Article 50 is the plan for ay country that wishes to exit the EU.

Positive effects

Britain is going to more sovereign. Also would be freer to expand a military and reinforce connection independently with other stable countries, such as the USA, outside of the EU. The free market is going to be more intensified, and inflation would be lower. And there is the fact that fishing will be a boom again. A massive portion of Britain’s revenue goes to the EU budget. After Brexit, the revenue could be used to build an additional infrastructure.

Negative effects

Despite if Britain will not going to contribute money to the EU budget, she will lose a huge revenue which is about 400 billion pounds. Also, she will be much more threatened by global terrorism

Every family will be £4,300 worse off. They will be restrictions on how much you could bring back. The days of the cruise to France is going to be away. And also for British students to study in countries which they are in EU zones will be more problematic.

Stephen Hawking said: "By working together in Europe we make our economy stronger and we give ourselves more influence in the world and we provide future opportunities for young people." Numerous scientists have also voiced their support for Remain, claiming an out vote would badly damage the field.

Immigration

The increase of Britains population has slowed since the Brexit vote. This has been caused by emigration from the Poland and the other East and Central European countries. Government's target of reducing immigrants was about 100 000. Nowadays of reducing immigrants is near to 240 000.
