The Civil Rights Movement was a variety of activism that wanted to secure all political and social rights for African Americans. It had many different approaches from lawsuits, lobbying the federal government, massdirect action, and black power. The ending and main point of the helped African Americans better their living conditions, which also helped the U.S. economy, not including discrimination, racism, and segregation. There were many activists who are more respected than others; they brought change because of their boycotts and struggles. This movement inspired other minorities into fighting for their own rights.

Black Nationalism is an ongoing movement, which has existed long before the late 1960’s and early 1970’s; it is an ideology that is implemented through the phrase “black power”. Black nationalists were in favor of racial pride among black people, economic self-sufficiency, and black separatism. Their nonviolent tactics were boycotts and sit-ins. The Montgomery bus boycott which reflected deliberate strategy on the part of the NAACP in selecting Rosa Parks to get arrested. Then there was the involvement of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (who was a local pastor) which resulted in the creation of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Participants in the boycott created mutual aid networks to help people get around town and to work A Supreme Court decision found segregating busing to be unconstitutional and the protests helped force its implementation locally. In sit-ins, workers used the sit-down strike as a tactic to fight for better conditions. The Fellowship of Reconciliation and the Congress of Racial Equality spread the tactic through a series of training and activists; many students used this tactic.

This movement motivated other minorities into action; for example, women. There were many political obstacles to full suffrage and citizenship rights for women. Many feminists ideas and organizations started to develop; some examples are the”National Organization of Women” and “National Black Feminists Organization”. Betty Friedan wrote the book “The Feminine Mystique” which talks about feminism. These initiatives were possible because of the inspiring black people movement.

It can be argued that the other minorities started to fight for their rights because of their desire for equality. All the minorities were suppressed and all of them started to take action for their own reasons. However, black nationalism was the most powerful and the results they were getting, inspired the other minorities even more to take action.

The Civil Rights Movement is the start of rebellion of minorities against the oppression and the lack of equality. The black movement was the most powerful, therefore the other minorities took action as well. This era was a period of changes as people were starting to be heard.
