Reading is an activity that almost everybody takes part in. However, there are various types of readers for the people who actually enjoy reading. The vast universe of book readers consists of: the book clubber, the partial reader, the re-readers, the physical book loyalists, and the emotional readers (this is just a few of the many types of readers). Let us dive into the characteristics of these fascinating variations of readers.
To start, we have the book clubber. This reader invests deeply in the process of a book club. If you are interested in the topic of reading, you can improve your skill, just check out our article on reading tips. Book clubbing is a way of life for them as they indulge in creating a book club, making food for when the members gather to discuss the books, choosing the books that the club will read, creating theories on the books, and getting other friends and families to join their own book club. Book clubbers, in my opinion, are honestly annoying because they are 40-year-old women who meet up once a week to drink wine, eat cute little hors d’oeuvres, and ask unnecessary questions about clearance books they buy at the local bookstore found in the buttcrack of their small town.
Next we have the partial reader. Honestly I am curious as to why these people even pick up a book. If you are incapable of finishing a book, then why pick it up in the first place? This type of reader constantly gets distracted or loses interest fast because they are unable to focus on the book they choose to read so they move onto the next book or just stop reading altogether. The fact that they start reading a book is honestly pointless.
The re-readers. These readers become so in love with a book, series, or author that they re-read the book at least a couple dozen times. They would rather re-read “Harry Potter” or the “Fault in Our Stars” for the millionth time than go to Barnes and Noble and visit the Newly Published section within the store. Everytime a new book comes out for an author they love, the immediately read it rather than find a new author to love.
Many people who read, read from a Nook, Kindle, or off their phone. However there is a type of reader who cannot stand to read off of an electronic device. These are the physical book loyalists. Like me, they love the feel of paper books and the smell of new and old books. They condemn anyone who reads off of an electronic device over a physical book. They spend ninety percent of their day at the library or bookstore looking for a new book to read and fall in love with.
Lastly there is the emotional reader. I fall into this category. Emotional readers become so attached to the fictional characters presented in the book that they sympathize with them and dream of being inside the story they read. Most readers feel emotions when they read but emotional readers become too infested in the story and cry when a character dies or becomes super happy when a character fall in love. These people may be the most insane types of readers.
Readers are crazy, there is no denying this fact. They simply just love to read, some a little too much and some too little.
