The Dark Knight' Movie: an In-depth Poster Analysis

Analysis of a poster of movie namely the dark knight which was released in recent years. This poster will be significant because of it shows the whole initial information about everything of movie like atmosphere, building, costume of batman and cast of movie. First of all, mostly used color in poster is black which is often used as a symbol of menace of evil, but it is also popular as indicator of power. Moreover, black is also associate with death, mourning, unhappiness, sexuality, formality and sophistication. As shown in poster, the verbal communication connotes of darkness and mystery. The cloud smoke and fire of batman sign gives the idea that it is going to be an explosive film full of action and danger. Also, by the way batman is stood suggest he is a main role as he is stood alone in the stance that represents he has power and fearless. His hands drenched suggest he is waiting for a fight and he is also have covered due to light and shadow which suggesting he is a little mysterious.

The gloomy cloud weather could foreshadow a period of time in the film where the characters go through a dark period of time. This could convey to the audience underlining theme that movie could to filling with chaos and suffering. The fact that there is a low angle shot of batman makes him looks very dominant and powerful. But at the same time the shot makes batman look sinister. The use of shot is very effective as it makes the audience think and question the superhero batman. The film title is written in bold font in white color which is color of peace. This connotes the importance of the film as the white contrasts against the black background. It also includes the iconography of bat symbol behind the title. This is effective as the audience can immediately identify the movie also the bat symbol itself is dark but is highlighted in a bright light color which convey the contrasting themes in the movie of good and evil. The position of tagline is very effective as this would see thus highlighting to the audience that the film would have a lot of action and adventure. The tag line also complements the picture of the poster as a place without rules would mean chaos and thus the poster. The bat symbol is used to outline the building behind the main character. This enables the audience to immediately to identify the movie because the bat symbol is burnt in orange color contrast against the black gloomy color of the building. This is very effective and dramatic as it catches the audience eyes. The release date for the film is positioned at the centre of the bottom of the poster in a large bold font. This is very effective as it highlights the importance of this date and makes the audience feel that they cannot afford to miss this film.

The color palette of poster also gives sense of evilness. Everybody easily say that by seeing poster batman is evil, cruel and negative character which is not a case. People always think bad ass behavior of batman is shown in movie. Before the release of movies, everybody have only poster which help audience to think what side movie will go? After poster trailer of movie kind of change their think about poster. People easily connect the burning background with some evil activities. Also, the character of batman wearing black color costume kind of giving sense of evilness. Mostly, indented audience of batman poster is who love action, darkness and danger. These kinds of people are also looking for damaging of the cars, buildings or other things by hero of the movie. They also love the action figure and fiction movies which always have damage and waste of money. 

To conclude, personally, if I do not know Batman is, I will say this is perfect movies to watch because of lot of action happened is seen in poster. This audience also connects with color palette of poster and engaged to movie more.
