Everybody has either experienced an event or made an important decision that will affect their life positively. One critical decision that I made that has, and will impact me for the rest of my life came in early 2016, when I was fifteen years old. Often as most young teenagers, I didn’t know what I was going to do with life, in fact, I was lost in all aspects. I had no drive, and no motor. I was not living a life full of despair and sadness, I just needed to find myself, and purpose.
This was a turning point in my life, I knew for the upcoming school year I was transferring from McEachern High School to Mays High School. That whole summer I decided to hone in and focus on where I was and where I wanted to be, and who I wanted to become with my life. I was determined that transferring high schools would bring a fresh positive start to my life. I knew I had to surrender my life of mediocrity. The manner in which I was living isn't what you would depict as a good state. I was simply making a halfhearted effort towards my future, and it was unhealthy. I was living my life through others meaning I was living for the satisfaction of everyone else. It was necessary that I abandoned some of the deleterious friendships, and relationships of the past, so I began to isolate myself and distance myself. A great sum of individuals would think that isolating myself would be unhealthy for me, but it wasn’t.
Most of the friendships, I was in were undesirable. Most people can’t do such a thing, I didn’t travel the well-worn path because it is not for me. Through the journey of finding myself, I had to commit and acknowledge myself towards my faith. I chose not to try things, but to exceed in them, put one hundred, and ten percent into it, and go all the way. I knew I was going to lose more friends and relationships, because they don’t understand why I don’t dogma. I found something worth striving for which was my purpose. Just after I began to truly find myself, the new school begun. Ever since, I have made the decision to go forth and achieve what I want to be.
My successes began to reveal itself to the world. I went from 2. 9 GPA (UW) to a 3. 6 (just for that semester). I went from the Freshman Basketball team at McEachern High School to the Varsity Basketball team at Mays High School. I made the Varsity Basketball team and I started as a Sophomore for the first half of the season. I also, ran Cross Country. I maintained those grades up until now. I am now a member of Varsity Football, Track & Field, Basketball. I am now a member of the CAC club, Honors Math Club and qualified to join BETA Club & National Honors Society. I also now, own my business where I sell own merchandise. My successes so far in my short span can all attribute from the decision I made to find myself that spring, and summer of 2016.
