The Development of The Tourist Guide Platform

Abstract

This undergraduate project concentrates on the development of the tourist guide platform. As mobile technology has become increasingly popular in this generation, it has become an everyday part of most individuals’ lives. Mobile applications allow users to access various activity from playing games, browsing the internet, using social media and many more other interactions. There are many mobile applications out already which provides the user’s needs, therefore, it is important for tourist guide application to provide tourists a greater travel experience.

Many individuals use resources from different web pages to plan their trips. The tools and techniques required to carry out the project will be analysed in depth. The functions and design for the application will be heavily based on the feedback from the research as well as be aware of what are the suitable feature for the application and if there are any that are unnecessary.

As of now many individuals find that using the web to research or using a book will be time-consuming for them. Therefore, if the mobile application could have features that Travel guide books and websites already have into a mobile application, it will 100% guarantee them with less time to researching, a booking system for restaurants and hotels nearby the area. This will allow the users to book a restaurant at a time their desire. Also, the system will allow the users to book the amount of seats. The techniques used for the features will be analysed and evaluated throughout the report.

Purpose /motivation of the tourist app

The propose behind the tourist guide application is there are many individuals around the world who have never been to a certain country before and are afraid to go, one reason might be that they are not familiar with the people or the location, secondly, may be that they are needing someone alongside them that knows the place very well.

The motivation behind the tourist guide application for India is that my friends wants to explore India and they have no background knowledge about the towns there and would like to have something to assist them rather than waiting for someone to look for, for guidance. Looking on the web for information about places can be very time-consuming considering the user has to type in constantly every places they are interested in as well as storing the information about the places somewhere safe. Having information all stored in one page where users could go back and forth to look up at any time is less time consuming and much more beneficial.

The main purpose of the app is to implement the features that are existing on web application into a mobile app. From my experience travelling to India, It is very difficult to get to a certain place especially due to the fact that the country is massive and a lot of information to take in. Tourist guides are important for all individuals that travel somewhere where they have no knowledge about. If the users are adventurous, this would definitely be beneficial.

Additionally, the main motivation behind the application is that as India’s first language is not English, it is very hard for them to communicate. Therefore, if you were to go there not knowing the language, you could get lost. There may be some who understand fluent English, however it is not guaranteed that the users will find someone who is able to communicate with them and provide them with the necessary information. In India, Gujarati and Hindi is the main language that is spoken there so if someone who doesn’t know the languages, a tourist guide application would be guaranteed to assist them.
